Disjointed thoughts on the end of an era or two:
1. That bit where the Doctor hears Wilf knocking four times on the door was spine-chilling.
2. Yes, a lot of it was self-indulgent, but it was the one time they could really get away with that - and it made the switch to Matt Smith's frenetic energy and joy all the more effective.
3. It's a low-budget Universe, part 1: wouldn't it have been good to have had half a dozen more Time Lords lined up behind Dalton?
4. Rassilon! Never saw that coming.
5. Basically every scene with Tennant and Cribbins was wonderful. Give these two their own show.
6. John Simm gives a masterclass in the difference between overacting and acting an over-the-top part really well, especially when the Master thinks the Doctor is actually going to shoot him.
7. It's a low-budget Universe, part 2: it would probably have been a bugger for make-up, but it would have been good to show the Doctor getting visibly more ill as his last goodbyes progress.
8. Donna showing off her wedding ring is just delightful.
9. So Davies finally managed to contrive a return for Midshipman Frame - and matched him up with Jack to boot! That's the good thing about being showrunner, you can put your fanfic right up there on screen and no one can stop you.
10. I presume Moffat was planning to redesign the Tardis interior anyway.
11. Matt Smith had me from his very first facial expression. Watching his scene, I understood what Moffat saw in his audition. I am so excited about seeing his Doctor.
12. My God, Martha gets hotter every time she shows up.
12a. And married to Mickey Smith! Didn't see that coming.
12b. Lucky bastard.
12c. I mean, Rose and Martha.
12d. He'll be making moves on Kylie next.
13. Shit, Queen are about to come on BBC4, recorded live in 1975. That'll have to be all.
