this is what cahty has to say about the dc show..
last night was the dashboard confessional, thrice, get up kids, and val emmich show. i guess i should start this all off from the beginning.
so a couple weeks ago, sara won tickets to see dashboard live, meet them at the show, and to have a possibility of winning a car. since sara wasnt 18, her mom had to be the main person who did everything. so when we got to the show yesterday we were all excited because we were supposed to meet dashboard confessional. well to make a long story short, the radio people lied to us when they said we could meet dashboard. it turns out the only people that can meet dashboard are the ones with the chance of winning the car, aka saras mom. so saras mom went and met dashboard and got a thing signed for me, and me and sara waited in line.
the doors opened for the show at like 6 or something and it was 4 when we were in line. it was also very sunny out. to pass the time, we would dump some gatorade on the ground and watch it evaporate. we called it our TV, also known as our only source of entertainment. we even started a mini trend! we got this girl next to us to dump some of her jamba juice onto the ground. so we wait in line for awhile and we find out saras mom didnt win the car. oh well. then we see katie, alyssa, and alyssa's sister stephanie. so they cut in line by us. woo. we all had cameras down our pants because we werent allowed to take cameras inside. we are sneaky smugglers.
in the meantime, sara was in a different area and apparently chris carraba went out and was talking to fans and stuff. sara touched his arm. she ran back screaming to all of us about how she touched him. it was amazingly funny.
we finally got in the building and i pulled the camera out of my pants and went to go wait at for the show to start. we all sat there and then we finally got up and the thing started.
first band up was Val Emmich. now, i for one had certainly never heard of them before, so i wasnt really expecting anything magnificent or exciting from them. but DAMN, when they started singing i was almost amazed. they were ALOT better than i thought that they would be. it was great watching them too, there were only about 5 or 6 people in front of us, and it was pretty enjoyable, minus the drunk and high middle-aged hispanic man.
after val emmich ended, the group of us were standing waiting for the get up kids to start. now let me expand on the drunk and high middle-aged hispanic man. apparently he came to the show with his neice, and he was lighting up in the pit during val emmich. he smelt of beer and he sweat ALOT. he almost started a fight with a guy too. everyone hated him. somehow he got stuck next to me for the beginning of the get up kids, and i wanted to shoot myself because my head hit his sweaty hairy armpit. ew. so the get up kids got the crowd pretty riled up and i was getting sick of falling every 2 seconds, so sara and i left to go get a free val emmich cd at the merch table.
so we go to the merch table and Val Emmich is there. in the flesh. just like that. i got their cd and they signed it for me. they are so cute and sweet. i got pictures with them all too. Anthony looks just like Evan, this kid that goes to my school. it was crazy funny. anyways, so me and sara talk to the guys for awhile, actual talking, not me just sitting there all shy. it was amzing, i think thats the first time ive ever met a band and not shyed out on them. they are pretty cool guys too.
so after we talked to them for awhile, we left to go watch thrice. we went into the pit from the side so we were placed pretty awesome. 2 people in front of us and then there was the barricades. good stuff. thrice was awesome too. i didnt think they would be that great live, but damn was i wrong about that. they were great. not as amazing as val emmich, but still great. after they finished, sara and i were going to stay in the mosh so that we would have great spots for dashboard. but something happened and these 2 guys on opposite sides of me decided they were going to push against me, and i seriously couldnt breathe at all so i told sara i was going. well sara got stuck trying to get out, so this chickie that noticed we were trying to leave helped push one of the guys out of the way to get sara out of the pit. i thanked her and then she yelled at the top of her lungs "EVERYONE LET THESE PEOPLE OUT SO YOU CAN TAKE THEIR SPOTS". we had an amazing response to that too. suprisingly enough, people actually moved out of the way and we returned to safety. or something.
so sara and i go back up to the food stand because we are thirsty as hell. after we get our drinks we notice val emmich is still out there chilling with everyone, so we go up to them and start talking to them more. amzing fun. i dont know, we didnt really say much to one of the guys before we moved on and stood by the merch table being losers and drinking our sodas. Val was talking to Eric (Val is the singer, eric is drums) and i guess he noticed we were standing there and he turns to us and says "sup girls" hee. i dont know why that made me so giddy. maybe if you would have seen how hot he was you could understand. haha. we were bored and so we told Val to sign our shoes. it was funny, he wrote in big letters "VE", then said we were part of an elite club now. we got the other guys to sign our shoes too, because we were *that* bored.
sara got all upset because she thought we were going to miss dashboard, so we went back down. i almost wanted to stay up there through dashboard, just so i could have the chance to hang out with the guys more. but nope, sara dragged me with her. haha. but i dont mind.
dashboard was fricken amazing. i never thought they would be that great live. most bands live suck, but not them. after they sang the first song, chris got kinda upset because someone flipped him off and called him a pussy or something. and so he told the guy to come onstage and tell everyone how he felt. then chris said "open mike" and i was considering going up there and confessing my love to that short hottie. but i didnt sadly. anyways, so their set was amazing. it lasted forever and a day, but im not complaining, since they played my 2 favorite songs (again i go unnoticed, and hands down)
after the show i wanted to see the band again, but they had left their spot and i didnt have time to go and look for them. we went home after that. sigh, im waiting for my pics to get developed, because god, those pictures will be amazing.
anyways, overall great night, minus the drunk/high man, and not getting to meet dashboard. but i got to meet val emmich, which may possibly have been better than meeting dashboard anyways. :p thank god for sara winning tickets.
