"My brother," he had said in his note to Arianrhod. "My brother's behind all this. I don't know what he's up to or how he's doing it but he is and I have to put a stop to him."
That was yesterday. A little snooping around told him that there was a group of people calling themselves "Potter Watch" that was broadcasting on the wizard wireless telling people all the things the Prophet wouldn't tell; likely because the Prophet was either under control of the Dark Lord or because they were simply too afraid to report anything but happy news.
Knowing Rodolphus he'd try and hunt them down. And...
This had to be stopped. Now.
How was he going to intercept Rodolphus though? Potter Watch didn't stay in the same place for very long. If his brother couldn't catch them how on Earth was he supposed to?
Summoning an owl he tied a note to its leg, which read:
"I know who's chasing you. And I'm trying to hunt him down. Tell me where you were last, and I'll do my best to stop him from hunting you further."
This isn't going to work, he thought sadly. Potter Watch isn't staffed by idiots; they're not going to tell me any more than they'd tell the average witch or wizard.
But he figured it wouldn't hurt to at least wait a week or two, trying to trail Rodolphus himself while Potter Watch debated the merits of informing some anonymous tracker about their last whereabouts.
For all they know it could be their pursuer himself, trying to lull them into a false sense of security. Drop their guard so he can find them easier.
Two weeks later, an owl returned. The note seemed to mock him.
"As if we'd tell you!" it crowed. "But we were in Sheffield not long ago. Maybe you'll find the hunter there?"
Sheffield. Likely he was setting himself up for disappointment, but he had to try.
Rodolphus couldn't be allowed to carry on any longer...
