How to make a 3-year-old's day

I did something crazy this morning. I let my toddler nephew play with my iPad. My sister is juggling chaos this week, so Travis and I took Tommy to daycare on the way to work, but first I had to baby-sit for half-an-hour. I find the advertising for the iPad a little over the top--the first time I saw the ad, I thought it was a spoof.

Apple, unlike Microsoft with their precocious 4-year-old photo editing expert from 2009, doesn't strike me as a "kid-friendly" kind of company/place, unless the kids are living in Dwell magazine. Given what you say, I wonder why Apple isn't highlighting this aspect, unless they are worried about negative reaction of some kind.

I haven't paid too much attention to the iPad advertising. I wonder if Apple isn't playing up the educational aspect because it hasn't really seen it as a market. Most of Apple's student marketing kicks in during high-school.

The iPad completes my Apple ecosystem.

I have the laptop for the big stuff, but my laptop, despite being 'portable' really doesn't move that much. It sits on the dining room table that vast majority of the time.

I have my iPhone for when I'm out of the house and need Internet. It's mobile, the the screen size does have limits.

The iPad fills in everything in between. It follows me around the house, and frankly, is better than either the laptop or the iPhone when it comes to 'consuming' media.

Summary:
MacBook - for producing
iPad - for consuming
iPhone - for consuming when I'm away from home and need an Internet connection.
