I just filled out my Income Tax Statement, and there was a box that asked if I wanted to donate 3 dollars to the Presidential Election Campaigne that is over.
I put a well-defined "X" in that box.

That should be illegal; it is in no way related to income taxes.
I want to know how much money they end up raising.

maybe, $3 because it could divided between the dem., rep., and the other. but that would be fair. haha, how silly of me to think the government would be fair.

it's not as bad as one might think, but still pretty bad. the money goes into a fund that is split between the major presidential candidates to pay for primaries, the conventions, etc. It's supposed to give the "public" more power in financing elections and weaken Big Business's influence, but the conventions and primaries are useless fluff pieces now and the fund won't do much to help third party financing. I learned lots of heartbreaking stuff like this while helping the Kerry campaign.

i have found that it is pointless to argue with a democrat...all they do is continually throw the same arguments out there and then repeat the same thing back to you when you ask for an explanation...
