"'Mr Moony presents his compliments to Professor Snape, and begs him to keep his abnormally long nose out of other people's business.'"
Severus leant against the door of Remus's office and looked unblinkingly at him.
"Severus..."
"Where should I start, Luoin - or should that be Moony?" Severus's voice was quiet and controlled. "Firstly, I was under the impression that you were at least pretending to be a Professor at Hogwarts. Conspiring with a student to defy another teacher is hardly the behaviour of a responsible Professor. Nor, might I add, is the language of your... alter ego, shall we say?... appropriate for your position."
"I am not Moony now - or he is not me," Remus defended himself. "It was a teenager's insult, Severus. Let it stay in the past, where it belongs. Harry... Harry knows nothing, and I assure you that wherever he got that parchment, it was not from me."
"As to what was said," continued Severus, as if Remus had not spoken, "as I recall, last night it was not my nose that you were begging me to stick into your... business."
"Please, Severus..."
"'Please'. what?" he demanded cruelly. "'Please accept that I am going to defend Potter at all costs'? 'Please let me be a disgrace to the name of teacher without reporting me to the Headmaster'? Or something else? 'Please fuck me'? 'Please poke your abnormally long cock into my arse'?"
Remus sighed.
"Whatever suits your mood. But believe me, I am doing the best job I can - for Professor Dumbledore, for the students, for you."
"As usual then" - and Severus's sneer was back in force - "your 'best' is nowhere near good enough. Goodbye Lupin." He turned, but as his hand was on the door handle he offered one last comment. "And for your information, I will continue to stick my nose - abnormally long or not - wherever I damn well please."
The door shut behind him with a bang.
