Gift for: lycoris
Fandom: Getbackers
Pairing: Ban/Ginji (no surprises there!)
Rating: PG
Author's notes: Paul Wan involved for the sake of robert_frogg: apologies if he's OOC. Actually, apologies for anything that breaks the fandom rules. If there's too much, imagine it's AU :) It's fluff, because I don't know enough for anything else. Wiki is my best friend.

"He's in a bad mood today, Paul-san."

"Who?"

Paul's gaze followed the direction of Hevn's, and he saw Ban and Ginji - the Getbackers - sitting side by side at a table. He rolled his eyes.

"Ban Midou is always in a mood," he said, slightly unfairly.

But Hevn was shaking her head.

"No, Paul-san. Not Ban. Ginji."

Anyone who had seen Ginji as the Raitei knew that there was more to him than lay on the surface. But still - Ginji, as a general rule, was so laid back, so happy-go-lucky, that it was difficult to believe that he knew the meaning of grumpy.

"This I have to see!" Paul commented, strolling over to them.

Now he looked closely, Ginji did look... sparky. And he was - there was no other word for it - pouting. Paul found he couldn't resist stirring a little.

"You've come to pay your tab, I guess?" he suggested.

Ban stared down at his cup. Ginji's pout became more pronounced.

"Ask him," Ginji said sulkily, indicating Ban.

Ban was still apparently finding his drink especially fascinating. Paul hid a smile.

"Ban?"

"Not today," Ban muttered.

"Not today, and we've got nowhere to sleep," grumbled Ginji.

"There's the car," Ban said unwillingly, still refusing to look up.

"The car - with - broken - windscreen - that's - your - fault," corrected Ginji.

"It wasn't my fault."

They had evidently had this argument before. Paul was forgotten. It was, in fact, Ban's fault. Ban knew it. Ginji knew it. Ginji knew Ban knew it. Ban couldn't help but know Ginji knew it.

"I told you not to go down there."

"It might have happened anywhere."

Paul wished they'd get to the point. He wasn't going to be paid - again - so the least they owed him was amusement.

"It might not."

"We had to take a chance. We needed the... money," Ban finished, realising too late that he'd left himself open to another attack.

"The money that now has to be spent mending the windscreen?" demanded Ginji.

Yes, that.

Ban grunted.

"It looked clear. It looked safe. How was I to know that we'd get rocks hurled at us?"

"Maybe because I told you?" sniffed Ginji.

Oh yes, that too.

"I thought you were wrong."

"Was I?"

Ban gritted his teeth, but it had to be said.

"No, Ginji, you were not wrong. You were right. It wasn't safe even though it looked it. I was..." Ban choked on the word 'wrong' and substituted hastily. "...I was mistaken and you were correct."

The clouds vanished miraculously from Ginji's face. Paul sighed regretfully: it seemed the show was over.

"Ban-chan," Ginji said happily, all resentment dispersed, "I love you."

And he planted a kiss on Ban's lips.

Hmm, maybe there was life in this show yet...
