I borrowed from Jessica a book called "What Would Jesus Eat"...I like it a lot. It's a total eye-opener. It goes over the benefits of what today would be considered a "primitive" diet, using biblical basis combined with scientific data to explain why it's healthier. Unprocessed whole wheat and barley versus white bread, for example, or kosher ( Read more... )

If God didn't want us to eat animals, he wouldn't have made them out of meat. Nuff said.

He didn't say stop eating meat. Just the method. Unfortunately, you will never know how the animals are treated, even the most respected Kosher slaughterhouse was investigated and found they were no better. Animals shouldn't suffer, but mistakes do occur. Personally, I cut back on beef for health reasons, but poultry are treated badly too for some.

But you must also realize these animals are not captured in the wild and executed, they are bred for food, fed to be good food, and routinely inspected medically to make sure they are safe to eat. I'm really sick of PETA giving half truths and falsifying shit, especially in the Dairy industry.

What really kills me is how all of them are overinjected with antibiotics, which in turn makes our bodies more immune to them when we really need 'em. And yes, thank you Dustin for reading the whole post. Come on Bill, seriously...I love my meat more than anyone, I just happen to know that the whole industry is so terribly and horribly screwed up just to make more of a profit that it needlessly endangers the lives of all of us. They're not just "fed to be good food" but force-fed to the point of what would be otherwise considered obesity, penned in a small cage so they can't get any exercise and otherwise lose the weight. I'm not even talking about the cruelty of it, it's just sick the entire process, and it endangers human lives a lot more than need be ( ... )

What Bill said was a quote, not really his fully expounded thoughts on the subject. :)

Homer simpson put it aptly -

"If God didn't want us to eat animals, he wouldn't have made them out of meat. Nuff said."
