Noah's birthday bashes

On Noah's real birthday, John took the day off, and we went to a new city-run water park in Round Rock. Although it was cuh-ray-zee busy and supah hot, a good time was had by all.
Noah loved it because most of the pools were waist-deep for him. Perfect for playing and swimming.

And then there were fountains to play in, too.

It was a real party, because lots of his friends came out.
Andie and Morgan

Mariela

And Noah's buddy Miles, who didn't really like the water, *did* like the food and was happy to share

We came home and all took long naps. The sun really wore us out. Noah's second wind was useful for present opening.

On Saturday, we had Noah's birthday party. It was a train theme, but I still wanted to do some craft projects. I wrapped up a bunch of boxes and made a train out of them on a tarp in the back yard. Each kid got a box to paint. Noah's was the engine.

We also decorated some sugar cookies that kids took home. Each child got a #3, a train, and their first initial. Noah and I made the cookies the day before, and it was a ball. Noah is quite adept at using the rolling pin, although you have to watch that he doesn't get too carried away with the flour. Anyhow, here's John helping some of the kids with their cookies.

And my piece de resistance was N's train cake. I'm no Martha Stewart, but I thought it came out pretty cute. (But MARIE, I had the same problem you did with the red food coloring coming out quite, ummm, pink...no matter how much I used.)

Most importantly, Noah liked it.

Again, we all had nice naps that afternoon. My parents, brother, and his GF all came down from Dallas for the weekend. They played in the pool with N while I cleaned up the birthday party aftermath.

Noah loves it when my brother throws him in the air, then he crashes into the water.

Oops...I zoomed too much.

Ah ha, that's better

You'll be pleased to know that Thomas and his friends were well represented in Noah's present haul

But what was Noah's favorite present? Showing off his little brother.

It's good to be 3.
