MASS Recap- part two

The Cape time of our vacation was somewhat predictable: lots of ice cream, lots of John's relatives, and lots of avoiding many of John's closest relatives. I wish I could love Cape Cod. I love my husband, and he loves Cape Cod. But I just.don't.get.it. I mean, it's quaint and cute if you like all that (which, despite my being an historian, I'm ( Read more... )

Can't wait for pics.

You know, I see where you are coming from, especially since I have difficulty with my in-laws as well. But I also feel for John. I think Elliot feels the way you do abaout Cape Cod about Nantucket. For me it is this magical place where I used to go when I was a little girl and, for me and my parents, seeing Zoe play on the same beaches where I once played is beyond special. For Elliot, it is an island full of snooty rich people. (And the water is darn cold!)

It's definitely a nostalgia thing. And as our travel budget shrinks, I don't want to be spending most of it going someplace I don't care about. (Especially if we're also spending money going to Iowa----yawn.)

Ha! I loved your post. "and lots of avoiding many of John's closest relatives"...sooo funny! Gary hates spending time with relatives and tries to avoid most of them when we are at a family event. He will talk to some of them like my brother but hates to talk to my sister's husband. So, Christmas will be in Cape Cod this year huh? ;)

Hmmm. When I encounter the shut-up-and-breathe crowd, I usually feel like I might pass out from holding my breath! Sorry your birthday was spent in a less-than-exciting way. Heard you went out with Simi and got drunk on margaritas. :p That sounds way more fun.

So funny! As someone from here - I don't think the Cape is cold - I know nothing different! What part of the cape where you on?

Dennis. East Dennis-- bay side. And that means it's warmer than the Dennisport (ocean) side. I'd really be outta luck then.
