It's been a few days. I still miss Ivy a lot. When I first came home and saw the empty space where her bed was, her collar hanging on her framed obedience school certificate, I lost it.

I'm almost at the point of acceptance, though. 17 is pretty old for a dog, and I think that's a testament to how much we all loved her and took care of her. I ( Read more... )

nice choice with those focusrites...i've been looking to grab some much better pre's, and am still up in the air. i don't know if i should just get a really good single pre or go for it and add 8. lemme know if you have any recommendations. how is that chameleon labs stereo compressor? i was thinking of just getting the FMR RNC for my master buss, but still unsure. i grabbed a 414 uls not too long ago, and am super happy with it. next up is an re-20.

also, i'm sorry to hear about ivy. she was a sweet pup. i can understand where you're coming from. my dog casey is 16 years old, and she's starting to wear out, and it's hard to accept that could be gone soon. just gotta cherish all the great times that we've had with our dogs for so long.

Right now, the only decent pres we have are a Neve and an API clone. We picked up the Seventh Circle Audio kit and will be adding to that in the future. I would definitely recommend looking into that stuff. It's cheaper if you buy the kits and do it yourself, though it's pretty intense soldering ( ... )

that 121 is so smooth. i love it. there are some other ribbons i've looked at, cuz i can't afford the 121..but the cascade fathead seems to have pretty good value for being 250, getting a stereo pair of those, setting them up in blumlein, use them as overheads, mm mm. and i dont know if you've heard the beyer m160, but it's excellent on crunchy guitars.

i've looked into the seventh circles, and i would probably just start out with that t15 and work my way up, and add more in there if i felt necessary. i am hearing really good things about that grace design 101 too.

are you guys using a clock for everything?
