duuuude, yeah, bank of america did that to me too. what happened was, i ate out at hickory tavern and there was a nice $30 charge. BUT, it took over a full week for the charge to show up. so after about a week i forgot about that charge completely and proceded to make 3 purchases that were all under $5. so i overdrew by like 10 bucks, but i owed the bank 90something.
but.. basically, i called bank of america's customer service phone line, and was connected to this lady. what you have to do is ask if they can offer you a one-time courtesy overdraw fee removal. she will most likely say "of course". i REALLY think you should try to do that instead of closing your account dude.
also, i think the $3 they are charging you per month is the maintainence fee for savings accounts that don't have at least $200 in it.
