Don't link my shit on twitter and facebook, plz. kthx.

It's actually one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard of. Make sure you go into your LJ preferences and unlink EVERYTHING/turn off pingbacks. I don't even know what LJ is thinking.

I get why they're doing it. Blogging sites have become a dying breed with social networking and they need to keep up with how technology and social media works today, which unfortunately is not what its current userbase wants. LJ's been on the loosing side since about 2004-2005 when MySpace came around. Realistically, if someone wanted to get into our journals and post our stuff everywhere, they could still do it without this feature. It just makes it easier. I just wish it was opt-in instead of opt-out.

I'm keeping pingbacks on, myself. All that does is let you know when someone's posted a link from your journal. I like to know who's linking my content.

Granted it's nice to know who's posting your shit, however the pingback feature has not been tweaked enough that people who aren't your friends end up gaining access to your locked posts if someone you're friends with links it, which I think is a bit silly. It would make sense to me if it were flawless, but it's not (yet).

I know, I was like wtf... when they changed it. If I or anyone else wants something posted somewhere... we will do it. WTF. Why are they making it easier to let others share private stuff that maybe you don't want fb or twitter seeing. or vice versa. Lame LJ lame.
