That's great to hear!

The home brewing kit interests me only because of the Cider. I hate beer, but I enjoy chemistry and I enjoy Cider... would it be worth getting one of those home brewing things just for that? Or is the selection limited if you want to just make different types of ciders (Don't even know if that's possible).

Hmm, well, the cider selection I think would be a little more limited than the beer selection because Mr. Beer only has one type of cider refill, but you can brew the cider with canned or fresh fruit in it, with different types of yeast and hops (if you want), add honey, spices, etc. Sure seems like there's still a lot you can do with it!

Here's a link to Mr. Beer's cider-brewing kit:

...although you can just as easily get the beer kit. The only difference is that the beer kit has all brown fermenter and bottles, because UV light makes the beer go bad. You can get a cheaper kit that's just the fermenter and use your own old soda bottles if you don't want to go all-out.

And their website has a pretty great section for recipes. Here are the cider ones that are up at the moment:Reply

Great news on the Phish concerts! That sounds like an amazing weekend! I had been thinking about the Phish concerts but I've been unemployed for the last few months until literally this week, when I started my new job. I don't think I'm ready for a few added expenses like Phish tickets!

I have a Mr. Beer brewing kit too! And for my birthday Emily got me a larger set from Groupon that can brew even more! You all are really doing a lot of different types, I have been meaning to start a few more recently but haven't had the time.

In my new job I'll occasionally travel to various places. If I'm ever near Austin I'll have to let you know!

Ooh, awesome! Congrats on your new job -- what is it? You'll just have to save up some money for next tour... but at least they come near you (REALLY near you!). We basically have to make a big thing of it since the closest show to us is at least a day's drive away. Can't complain though, since they came to Austin last year.

Haha, that's cool that you have a Mr. Beer! Let us know if you ever make anything amazing; we can share recipes! Haven't gotten to taste any of it yet, though, so no suggestions for a little while. Since I got it for Bobby's birthday I've been tryyyying to let him be more excited about it than me, haha, but it's hard because it's so cool. That's always a problem with birthday presents...

Definitely let us know if you are ever anywhere in Texas! We're within a day's drive of Dallas, Houston, or San Antonio, so it's a pretty safe bet. :)

I'm working as a Research Analyst at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. So basically I work to help elect Democrats to the House of Representatives by doing research into potential candidates and their opponents. But it also means I'll occasionally be doing travel to different locations around the country. Which would be very cool! I've never been west of the Mississippi and my only experience in Florida was a layover in the Miami Airport!

I haven't experimented too much with the recipes but I want to try to do more of that with Emily this summer. We've planted a garden too with a bunch of different things and we might take some inspiration from that!

Awesome, glad you get to travel! We've been trying to travel lots lately, but it's tough living far away from Virginia... half of our travels just take us back home! =P
