Could be several things : oven not hot enough, not enough baking powder, dry ingredients that need to be mixed thoroughly before getting mixed with the other ingredients...
I've looked at the recipe and it looks very dense and thick... To make it lighter (and make it rised better), subsitute an egg for a glass of milk or a glass of soy milk. Your batter will be fluffier, you'll see !

i'm guessing the oven temp wasn't high enough? you might want to invest in an oven thermometer, they're around $5. before i got mine i never knew my oven was too hot.
i have a banana bread recipe that uses 2 cups flour, 2 eggs, and 3/4 cup of plain yogurt - it comes out really moist and delicious. let me know if you want to give it a try!
