April 26 is the birthday of Jean-Jacques (or John James) Audubon and Alfred Krupp. Audubon was a big ornithologist and drew beautiful pictures of birds that are still used as illustrations and wall decoration. Krupp was an arms manufacturer. Find your own links. There are a million of them.

It's also the day Shakespeare was baptized. Guess how I know these. ;-)

Or were you not talking about birthdays?

I'm talking about things that shaped history ... or didn't. Anne Hutchinson didn't shape much other than placenames.

Audubon is too known. Krupp might do if the story is interesting.

Hey man...

I'm kinda partial to it, but how about November 11 and November 22. And go for something interesting on the 11th, huh? That Armistice thing is WAY overblown.

The 22nd is the birthday of a buddy of mine, incidentally.

Armistice Day is too known. I'd be reduced to me "Let us think about this until we cry," which -- while noble -- wears on the wife after a while.

When you're back West, look up some stuff in November (with or without resources like Wikipedia) and tell me what interests you and is obscure but not too obscure.

How's Israel?
