"We have been less successful in caucuses because it brings out the activist base of the Democratic Party. MoveOn didn't even want us to go into Afghanistan. I mean, that's what we're dealing with. And you know they turn out in great numbers. And they are very driven by their view of our positions, and it's primarily national security and foreign policy that drives them. I don't agree with them. They know I don't agree with them. So they flood into these caucuses and dominate them and really intimidate people who actually show up to support me." (

First, from MoveOn's executive director:
"MoveOn never opposed the war in Afghanistan, and we set the record straight years ago when Karl Rove made the same claim."
Second, voter turnout is usually seen by candidates as a ... good thing.
Third, national security and foreign policy are pretty big issues right now, seeing as we're at war -- partly because you voted to authorize that war.
Fourth, didn't you not long ago suggest that maybe your Iraq vote was wrong? I won't expect you to remember, given you've had some serious memory issues of late (getting more sleep now?).
Fifth, ... again, high voter turnout is a bad thing because ... ? Seeing the party voter base increase by leaps and bounds is an ominous sign for the DNC's future because ... ?
People loudly opposing a war you voted to authorize makes you look bad. It should. Yours was an idiotic, ignorant by your admission decision that has now, combined with the equally ignorant votes of your peers, caused 4,000 deaths and wasted several hundred billions of dollars.
But hey, at least you have the financial power to loan your campaign $5 million. And I don't fault you for that. I just wish you weren't so obviously spending it to poison Obama for the general election.
love,
A MoveOn member
