May 11, 1945: Schindlerjuden Befreiung

Since I do not pimp my DKos diaries as much as I used to, I hope this link will not just annoy people:

On May 11, 1945, Oskar Schindler's work camp (*NOT* concentration camp) was liberated.

One of my father's neighbors is listed on the Schindlerjuden Befreiung. Genuinely nice guy, but not in the best of health these days.

Dear Lord. Which one? I wish I'd known that beforehand, though in retrospect you had no way of knowing I was writing about that, as I kept it a secret from basically everyone but my parents and wife.

(Schindlerjuden Befreiung means Schindler children liberation, just so you're sure you're using it right. I sort of invented the term for the diary, but from what I know of German, it's acceptable use.)

Uhm. Shit, I don't know his name, to be honest. I've met him once or twice, but I could ask. I don't recall whether there was just one Schindler's list or not, but if there was only one (and it only had children on it), he was on that list. I could always ask next time I see my father, but I'm pretty sure that the guy's in pretty bad health these days if he's still living.

Juden refers to Jews, IIRC. Jungen refers to children.
