I am the old school sort of -- started in 1987 with the first season of TNG -- Trekkie who grew up on the shows, entered fandom through Trek fandom, entered sci-fi through Trek sci-fi, and so on and so forth, I've seen every episode of every series (except "Enterprise") about four point four zillion times and am in fact one of those people who ( Read more... )

At first, I was angry that they were going to do a remake, take my show and make it unrecognizable. Curiosity eventually overrode reluctance; I went, I watched... I cried and half-sobbed and remembered what it was like to love MY SHOW, MY CHARACTERS on the big screen again.

Here's the thing: JJ Abrams is a bastard genius. It's ST through the lens of JJ. And I think you will love it when you do see it, despite the fact that it is not really like any ST we've seen before.

(Unlike the XF movie, which sucked beyond the sucking.)

You're slightly concerned that if you see it you'll have slightly not-fun Chris Pine all over bombastic yet charming William Shatner?
