Okay, so my grandmother (dad's side) sends me forwarded emails...a lot of them, and very often. They can get pretty campy, yeah. BUT LOOK WHAT WAS WAITING FOR ME AT THE END OF ONE OF THEM, DANCING, FOR PETE'S SAKE.
Bawwww. I've never actually seen Ponyo on the Cliffs By the Sea (is that the title?? i have a good memory for them but i'm not recalling right now.), mainly because Miyazaki's animation gives me a very creepy feeling that I can't explain. Sometimes the eyes give me the uncanny valley feeling, but that's not quite it, either. There's just something about the art style that sends chills down my back, total nightmare fuel.
I used to LOVE Spirited Away, too...I have good memories of going to see it with someone very close to me...who died in 2002. :( THAT definitely isn't the reason his animation creeps me out, either, to be sure. When I remember seeing it with that person, the animation seems LESS creepy to me because of my association with the good memories of seeing it in theatres with them. So I don't know what it is. I just wonder whether other people get that feeling, too.
I think it had to do with the dripping things...and maybe the things that moved without any visible way of moving. Like No-Face. And do I recall moving slime? Ehh.
