My very insightful analysis of Casino Royale...

...which I finally saw last night:

Daniel Craig is direly sexy.
This movie was about half an hour too long.

Yep, that's it, that's all I've got. :-) Actually, I don't necessarily think the movie is too long, it was just definitely too long for me at a 10pm showing when I was hung over and had only slept 4 hours the night before. I almost cried with ( Read more... )

You need to get out of your current situations. Your enviornment can lead to things dragging out much longer than they should.

Oh man. For a minute there I froze, because I thought my anonymous-posting troll was back. Thanks for clarifying. :-) Hugs to you too. I hope the school break is giving you a chance to decompress a bit. Despite how it sounds in my posts, I really have been pretty happy and stable lately (all things being relative, of course)~ I'll try to post some of the more positive stuff too so that y'all get the full picture...

When Return of the King had about 10 scenes which felt like they each could have been the final one, people praised its completeness. Hell, when Fellowship of the Ring had about 10 scenes which felt like they each could have ended the movie about 2 hours in (so still an hour left to go), people hailed it as "just getting going and just getting REALLY good".

But Casino Royale does it for just a little bit, with a completely worthwhile payoff at the end, and it doesn't sit well with people. I'm not arguing that it's annoying and that more shouldn't have happened somehow in that 20-30 minutes, it's just the double standard bugs me because everyone thought I was off my nut for criticizing LOTR for the exact same thing.

Yeah, totally feel better though, get up off the couch, play some jumble (or whatever brain-engaging game is your favorite) and get ready for the new year, since it's an arbitrarily important time for so many people to do renewals, maybe this is a year to participate yourself.

I actually felt that way about LOTR too. But I think that people were willing to hear no ill about those movies being long because of the geek-factor of wanting them to be as true to the books as possible... which we don't really have with Bond movies (not that plenty of people don't geek out about Bond movies anyway, for different reasons...). I actually really liked the movie, and I agree that the payoff was worth the extra time. I was just REALLY tired that night. :-)
