I'm sorry about people letting you down but that's really just part of life. You get a few really good friends in life and the rest just go away to college and you never talk to them again.
College is important, period. There's no problem not knowing what you want to do because I still don't even know! You have TWO years to think of what you'd like to do, test the waters (etc). In fact most college students don't figure out what they want to do until two years into college, or they change their majors so many times. Amanda has changed her major like...four times I think?
I think what's stressing you out is the massive amount of change your life will have after going to college. You don't know how to react because your childhood has been so damn controlled.
You will meet lots of people in college. Know that you will have me as a friend as long as you need me (hopefully forever!).
