What did he think would happen, that the people around him'd go "Ok! Have fun!"

From the video, he didn't even seem to make any attempt to explain what he was planning on doing, maybe if he had it would have been OK. But he was just being a bit retarded there, sry2sy.

Sorry but I just had to react. I have to say, I totally understand why BASE jumping is illegal. If you don't get that parachute out by 300 ft (I think), you're basically dead. Which poses a problem when you're hurtling down incredibly fast from a building of, say, 400 feet? I'm no Math genius but it seems pretty stupid if you ask me.

Some time ago I watched a video of a couple of base jumpers, husband and wife. They were both really giddy as the husband videotaped the wife about to jump off a cliff. They were screaming their "I love yous" as the woman hurled herself of the cliff... and straight down. The parachute didn't pop up, and I guess the guy was just too stunned to even look away. So there, guess that was the "ultimate thrill"?

Anyway yeah. This Jeb Corliss guy seems like a real nuisance. :O

I lol'd.

But seriously. I'm kind of in two minds about this. Okay, yeah, he knew it was illegal, and he shouldn't have done it. Personally I think you've got to be madly out of your tree to want to go parachuting to begin with, and two steps away from being committed if you're a base-jumper. I'd have said if he wants to throw himself off a building with a very real possibility of a very messy death after a pants-shitting inducing fall, then yeah, have a nice day.

On the other hand, I feel that $30m is way too much. But then, stories that make the headlines like this show that some Americans have no sense of proportion when it comes to litigation. A couple thousand? No problem. It'll put food on his table. But $30m?? He's lucky he wasn't locked up.

Oh yeah, dude. People have no clue as to how much money that really is. Of course, everything is so exaggerated and blown out of proportion here, though, I can't really blame people for having that mindset. We throw the word "million" around like it's nothing.

And I love your use of "pants-shitting" fall! Nice adjective, there! XD

For me it's a case of the stupid v the stupid.

Everyone's stupid in this scenario.

Haha. See, I don't think that the guards were stupid. They were just trying to stop him from jumping and thus emotionally scarring the dozen or so people who were up there. I think this JEB fellow is a douche.
