It looks really cold there!

I especially like #6 and the two birds in the tree.

In that last one, is that snow being thrown up by car tyres?

early morning -25C
at day -15
night snowfall at -13
the next day about -10
at late evening about -15

no it is not snow but just exhaust condensing in cold

This gives me a very clear idea of how cold it is where you currently are. I love the night shots and the ice sculptures.

I was surprised by the market place out in the open air. Their potatoes and other vegetables and fruits are going to freeze. Still, I admire these people too for making the best out of a very cold winter. In a situation like this in the US, everything closes including the schools. The Russian people are much physically stronger than Americans to handle this weather.

i think US upper states live quite normally and do not consider the climate anything extreme

I have a young lj friend who is 27 living in Minot, North Dakota on the Canadian Border. Storyteller was assigned to and Air Force Base there and said it was colder than Alaska.

People I have known from up that way tell me is is frequently dark and raining much of the year ... a miserable place to live.

In the 2 photos in the open air markets what are the large things on the end of the table? Huge turnips? I cannot tell.

the dark and orange things are persimmons
frozen dead ones are half the price at 50c only
