Take-home tests rock. I think I even had a couple in high school. I guess it just depends on the teacher/prof. But yeah, they're great. And yay Pride and Prejudice!
(Your prof endorsed Wikipedia? Mine don't take it seriously. I know it's not the end-all-be-all, but I do think it's a good starting point for research, and a good place to get a general overview.)

Normally she would not endorse Wikipedia, but since she also wasn't entirely sure, I think she saw it the same way: a good starting point for answers. But, you know, if one of us tried to use Wikipedia as a source in a paper she would have an issue with that.
The final exam for my Linguistics class in Spring 2006 was a take-home killer. I hated that thing, but probably only because I'm a procrastinator ("get it done" people probably like them).
