Three into one does go...?

So... it's been an interesting few weeks.

Mum is still in hospital. After they'd had her for a couple of days trying to chase down the initial infection, the surgeons came to have a look at the hernia she has had for 35 years, that no-one would take seriously.

They had her down for emergency surgery that evening.

Of course things had to drag on, so it was late morning the following day that they actually did her, and I lived on my nerves for 24 hours. She's not so young as she used to be. She came through it with flying colours though.

We've been up and down since then. Her recovery is slow, and she still has the damn infection, and some days I wonder if she will ever recover properly. But the last couple of days she's seemed more like her old self, even if she's still flat on her back.

Its going to be a long road though. Her mobility is about zero, and she lives on her own, so sending her home isn't the easiest thing. And that's before you factor in that she hasn't really been coping, but she has been hoarding. So before she can go back there, I have to sort the place out.

That's on top of the daughter, and my own housework, and my job (full time workload, part time hours). I may run myself into the ground here. Hopefully it will be worth it though.

Suffice it to say there's not a lot of time left for writing. As soon as I get chance I'll get back to posting Straight Lines - ch 8 is a bit short right now, so I need to open it out a bit before you lot wrap my knuckles!

Of course, writing wise the timing really sucks. Not only am I kicking aroudn sequel ideas for both Ogre and Oak, but I finally had a breakthrough on Habits. I know what the point of the second half of the fic is now. All I have to do is let it out. Yay!

If there is an upside, then it's this - some of what has been going on needs writing through, and I think it might well turn up in the G/D fantasy style fic, when I get to it. That's going to be a long one though, and the plot is no more than a few bullet points. Still it's progress, right? So hang in there. I'll be with you in a while...

mum, update - fic, life's little stresses
