Lying!

Ok, so after that sweet little message I decided I needed to rant. I am so annoyed right now with lying. I feel like I need to get this off my chest but then again I don't want to hurt anyones feelings because some of the people involved are people I care about. I might just use fake names or something - I'll see how it goes ( Read more... )

Lying is pretty rubbish. You've said plenty, and I sympathise, but if you'll excuse me I'll restrict my comments to the ones that correspond to possibly-useful thoughts. FWIW, you have no signs on your forehead. At least, not when last I checked. ;c)

I'm inclined to believe that if a person is willing to lie about themselves to patch up insecurities, it's because they really, honestly believe that others will not care for them as they are. Lying and building themselves up, they gather, is the only way to persuade someone to care. But of course, as we see from this rant, others find the lying off-putting, and it becomes a vicious cycle. ("Yeah, she said she didn't like me because I lied, but I know she wouldn't have liked the truth, either.")

Naturally, this doesn't excuse the behaviour; it just tries to explain it. Sorry if I'm too analytical for your rant. It just came out.

Hey :) Yeah, I agree about people building themselves up with lies. It's really sad that they feel they have to do that. If only they showed me their true selves I'd probably like them a whole lot more. Thank you for your input sweetheart, it's nice to know I don't actually have a sign on my forehead! Being analytical is good - I struggle to do so when I'm emotional - one of the joys of being Ianthe. *HUGE HUGS*

Yes you do have a big sign plastered on your forehead that says, "Lie to Me. Lie to me." You've had it since you were 2.
