A/N I've discovered that AU's are addictive. This is forzazajbwho started me with these and I hope it goes someway to making her smile.

A/N2 Apologies for any of you who are getting this multiple times, it's cross posted.

Three cups of coffee later and Jack had worked his way down the list.  He’d found his secretary, his APM and his Safety Officer.  He’d also managed to find a Supervisor for the Structural Steelwork, one for the Brickwork and his final Supervisor, hopefully, was going to be Gray.  He was hoping he’d say yes to making sure the Snags Lists were completed on time.  Gray was Jack’s brother, he’d offered him shares in the company but he’d declined saying he didn’t want to be tied to one company.  He liked to freelance and travel where the work was.  Consequently Jack hardly saw him.  He was younger than Jack and they’d had their differences, but finally they’d sorted them out and until Gray had disappeared to Australia on the contract for the renovations of the Opera House in Sydney, they’d seen each other every weekend.  It had been just under a year since Jack had seen his brother, he’d spoken to him on the phone, but it was only in the last month that Gray had come home from Australia.

Jack dialled his parents’ house, he knew that’s where Gray was living for now.

“Harkness residence, Gray speaking.”

“Gray, it’s Jack, how are you?”

“Jack hi, I’m good thanks, mum and dad aren’t in, they’ve just gone shopping, can I get them to ring you?”

“It’s you I wanted to speak to.  Can you come into my office, I have a proposition for you.  I’d rather explain face to face than over the phone.”

“I was going to see if there was any work out there, but yeah, I’ll call and see you, say half an hour?”

“That would be great, see you then, oh and Gray….”

“Yeah Jack?”

“Good to have you home.”

“Thanks, see you soon.”

The brothers hung up, Jack was staring into space when Dawn knocked and entered.  “More coffee Jack?  Hey you ok?”

“Yeah, I’m fine, tired, headache, but that’s self-inflicted, but I’ll be ok.  Coffee sounds fantastic thanks.”

“Have you got all the contractors you need?”

“Yeah, I’ve got Adam overseeing the Steelwork, Andy’s doing the Brickwork and do you remember Gray?” he saw Dawn smile and nod, “well he’s hopefully going to be overseeing the Snag Lists.  Oh and he’s going to be coming in for a chat in about half an hour, I’m sorry to ask but is there any chance of putting more coffee on?”  Jack noticed Dawn blush at the mention of Gray arriving at the office.

“What…oh….erm….yeah, sure more coffee.  Adam and Andy, are they bringing their own gangs or are you employing others?”

“A bit of both.  I’ve spoken to the pair and they’re bringing about half a dozen men each, the rest will be sorted once we know how things are going.  I’m afraid whilst Gwen gets herself sorted on site some of the paperwork will have to be done here.  You don’t mind do you?”

“Of course not Jack.  Hey I’ve had an idea, why don’t I come to site next week and help Gwen settle in, show her our filing and reference system, that way you won’t be travelling back and forth with paperwork.”

“I’ve said it before, but I’m going to say again, what would I do without you?”

Before she could answer a deep voice behind her said “You’d not get any work done Jack!”

Dawn jumped at the sound of the voice, Jack beamed as he moved around his desk to greet Gray.

“Gray, wonderful to see you.  You remember Dawn don’t you?”  Jack had purposely mentioned Dawn, he knew she had a crush on his brother and that was evident now as she’d turned a lovely shade of pink.

“Great to see you Jack, hi Dawn how’ve you been?”

“Erm, hi Gray, yeah I’m good thanks.  Would you like a coffee?”

“That would be brilliant thanks.”

Dawn left the office quickly.  She realised she was blushing and didn’t want Gray to notice.  He was a younger version of Jack and she thought he was gorgeous.

“Jack what have you done to Dawn, she was slightly flustered there.”

“It’s not me Gray, it’s you.  Come on you must realise she fancies you?”

Gray laughed, “Oh right, I….er….no I didn’t realise.”

“No you’re too into work to have a social life.  I can see we’re going to have to sort you out.”

“You can talk Jack, you got anyone yet?”

“No, and anyway that’s different.”

“Why is it?  You deserve to have someone to love.  You work too hard, you need to relax.”

“Ok, ok, let’s call a truce, let’s just say we’ll both find someone one day.”  They laughed, just as Dawn came in with two steaming mugs of coffee.  She saw them smiling and blushed again.  This caused the men to smile and shake their heads.

“Thanks Dawn, did you hear from Tosh yet about the updated designs?”

“Yeah, she’s coming in within the next half hour with them.  Shall I send her straight in when she arrives?”

“Yep, that would be great, thanks.”

She left the two men to catch up.

“Ok Jack, what’s this proposition you have for me then?”

“Do you remember Chris and Damien?” he saw Gray nod, “well they’re moving to Cardiff and Damien’s designed their house, they’ve got me building it and I need someone I can trust to do the Snag List when the contracts nearly finished.  I thought you might like the job.  I know the snags won’t be done till near the end of the build, but I was hoping you’d be on the contract from the start.  You could help Owen with the Health and Safety.”

“Wow - that would be great, thanks Jack.  I was wondering what I could do.  If I hadn’t found anything by the end of next week I was going to go to America.  I’d heard there were some big contracts in L.A.  But I’d love to stay here longer, I’ve missed mum and dad.”

“That’s settled then, you start Monday.  Hey, you missed mum and dad, what about your big brother?  Didn’t you miss him?”

Gray laughed, “well….I suppose!”  The two men were laughing and hugging when Dawn entered, followed by Tosh and Owen.

“Gray, hi, when did you get back?”

“Owen, Tosh, hi, erm a few weeks ago and it looks like I’m gonna be around for a while.  Jack’s just offered me a job and I’ve said yes.”

“Great, it’ll be good to have the Harkness boys back together again even if it’s for a short while.”

“Would you all like a coffee? I’ve just put more on.”

They all nodded and Dawn disappeared.  Coming back with 4 mugs of creamy smelling liquid.

“Right kids, what have you got for me?”

“Do you want me to go Jack?”

“No Gray, you can stay and give us your opinion on the designs.”

They spent the next hour discussing the plans and the changes that Damien and Chris had made the previous night.  Gray was impressed with Tosh’s CAD work, he’d worked with operators abroad who were 3D trained, but never came across anyone who was a good as Tosh.

Dawn popped her head around the door, “Jack, if you don’t mind I’m going, it’s 5.30pm and I really need to catch the last post with these letters.  I’ll see you in the morning.”

“Ok, no problem, I didn’t realise how late it was.  Thanks Dawn, I’ll see you in the morning.  Night.”

“Night all of you, don’t work too hard.”  She smiled at Gray and blushed, then made a hasty retreat.

“Well Gray, you’re in there!”

“Owen!  Don’t be so….so….”

“So what my love?”

Tosh playfully slapped him, “you know what I mean.  Leave the boy alone, I’m sure he’s quite capable of sorting out his life without you interfering.”

“If he’s anything like the Captain here, he’ll need a kick start with his love life!”  They all laughed.

“Captain?  Oh please don’t tell me he’s got that coat out again?”

“Yep, he prised it from his wardrobe last night and was wearing it when we all turned up for dinner.”

They looked at Jack who had turned a light shade of pink.

“I do believe the Captain’s blushing” quipped Owen.

“Jack, you haven’t worn that coat since….well since Hart!”

“Oi, leave me alone.  I thought it would be warm on site.  Anyway I like it so….”

“So if I remember rightly you used to have that great chat up line when you wore it.  What was it now?”

“Gray stop it!”

“No Jack, hey I remember, it went something like do you think I look sexy in this?”  They all burst out laughing and looking across at Jack, he’d now turned an even deeper shade of red.

It was Tosh who spoke first through her laughter.  “Come on guys, he deserves some fun, when was the last time he had any?”

“Yeah, you’re right as ever lover, we need to find someone for him.”

“I’m still in the room guys.  And when I want someone I’m quite capable of finding him for myself thank you.  Now, it’s getting late, I don’t know about you three, but I need to eat.  How about this?  I’ll ring Chris and Damien, who by the way are going to be living at mine whilst we build their house, and we can all go out for a meal tonight.  Let’s have someone else do the cooking tonight.”

“Sounds good to me.”  Gray said and Tosh and Owen nodded their agreement.

Ten minutes later Jack had spoken to the boys and they’d all agreed to meet up at Giovanni’s Restaurant in the city centre.

As they were leaving the office “Gray!”  Jack called his brother back “I’m glad you’re home.”

“Thanks Jack, it’s good to be home and thanks for the work.”

“Hey no problem.  I’m just glad I can find people I can trust.”

They all arrived at the restaurant together, Damien and Chris hugged Gray and told him they were pleased to see him.  The evening was a pleasant one with talk turning first to the new house then much to Jack’s embarrassment, his love life, or rather lack of.

“Look, can’t a guy be happy on his own?  I told you last night that I’m fine as I am.  I’m too set in my ways to have someone else in my life.”

“Jack, you’re young, good looking, the owner of a successful company.  Who isn’t going to think you’re a good man?”

“Hey, don’t forget his coat!”  Butted in Owen.

“Oh yeah, that coat has to be the icing on the cake for pulling power.” Chimed in Gray.

They all laughed again as they witnessed Jack blush once more.  They hadn’t seen him this relaxed for a very long time and they silently agreed it suited him.

“Now all we have to do is fine someone for our Captain here, then he can show the coat off to its full potential!”  Tosh giggled.

“Hey maybe there’s going to be someone on this new site?  You know what my brother’s like for half naked builders.”  Gray laughed and playfully nudged Jack.

Jack’s thoughts immediately went to the voice he’d heard on the phone.  The young Welshman, now that was someone he was looking forward to meeting.  Stop it Jack, you’ve had too much to drink.  You need to go home to sleep.

“Jack….hey Jack!  What or who are you thinking about?”

“Sorry Chris, I’ve had a long day and need my bed.  Hope you don’t mind, but I’m going to grab a taxi and go home.  I’ve got another long day tomorrow with two interviews to do in the afternoon and I need my senses firing on all cylinders.”

“No worries Jack, look we’ve all had a busy day so let’s call it a night and we can possibly do this again another time?”

“Sure Owen.”

They all left after having a relaxing evening.  Jack was still thinking about Mr Jones when he got home and as he made his way upstairs to bed he began formulating a picture of what the man would look like.  With a sexy voice like he’d heard he had to be cute.  Jack realised he was definitely going to enjoy this contract.
