A/N I've discovered that AU's are addictive. This is for
zazajbwho started me with these and I hope it goes someway to making her smile.
A/N2 Apologies for any of you who are getting this multiple times, it's cross posted
A/N3 Some of the incidents that are mentioned in the story have actually happened. They were incidents that were on sites I've worked on
The alarm woke Jack, he reached out a hand to switch it off, he hadn’t gotten much sleep, he’d been thinking about Ianto. He smiled at the thought of seeing him again that night. He then realised he’d have to get through a day working with him first. He hoped he could keep his hands off him. He’d promised not to do anything that would upset or embarrass the man.
Ianto’s alarm went off and reaching over to switch it off he remembered the previous evening. He smiled, how had he ended up with Jack? He’d never thought he’d find anyone so soon after….her. But, these feelings he had for the man felt so right. What was it Jack had said? If people can’t accept you for who you are that’s their problem. Yeah, he agreed. This was who he was, a man who had feelings for another man. He just hoped for now he didn’t give anything away when he was at work that day. He hoped he could keep his hands off the Captain….no his Captain. He found himself looking forward to seeing Jack again that night.
Jack could smell the coffee and the aroma of bacon and eggs as he made his way downstairs. He stopped halfway down formulating in his mind what he was going to say to his friends. He wandered into the kitchen.
“Oh, morning Jack, cold shower this morning was it?” Chris laughed.
“Chris, leave him alone. He’s only doing what he’s wanted to for the last few days.”
“Morning boys, mmm that smells good, is there enough for me?” Jack had heard Chris’ comment but pretended he hadn’t.
“Yeah, there’s enough, we thought you’d need something to keep your strength, and whatever else, up, after we caught you last night. Is he coming down for breakfast?”
“Ianto went home.”
“Oh….does that mean you two aren’t….?”
“For your information, we’re not rushing things. Ianto’s still not ready to let anyone know. So I’d appreciate it if you wouldn’t say anything to anyone, and that includes Owen. You know what he’s like.”
“Ok Jack, but you two are….?”
“Yes Chris, we’re seeing each other.”
“It looked a bit more than seeing each other when we came home last night. You were positively devouring each other.”
Jack smiled at the image of Ianto kissing him.
Damien and Chris both noticed the look in Jack’s eyes “Hey Chris, look, our Jack well and truly has it bad.”
“Yeah, it’s great isn’t it?”
“What was that? Did you say something?” Jack hadn’t really been listening, he’d been thinking of Ianto.
“Oh Jack, you really have it bad don’t you? We’ve not seen this Jack for a very long time and it suits you. I can see he’s going to be good for you. And we’re so pleased for you.”
“Thanks boys, I’ve not felt like this for a very long time. He’s….well he’s gorgeous. And I’m going to do everything to help him. He’s still not sure about things, but I promised we’d go at his pace, I don’t want to lose him.”
The boys became serious, “we can see that Jack, and if anyone can help him, it’s you. Look we’re sorry for making light of the situation, we only want to see you happy.”
“It’s ok, I know you were kidding. Now is that food ready I’m starving!”
They all smiled.
Ianto made his way downstairs. He could hear someone in the kitchen. He stopped, his hand on the door, he hoped no-one had seen him come home last night.
“Ianto, is that you?”
It was his sister, “yeah Rhi, what you doing up so early?”
“Mica woke me crying and I couldn’t get back to sleep.”
“Oh, is she ok?”
“Yeah. Want a coffee?”
“Please, then I must get to work.”
“You were late getting in last night. Where did you get to?”
“I went for a drink with Jack. He’s the Project Manager on my new job.”
“Oh, what’s he like?”
Ianto was thinking back to the previous night and found he couldn’t get Jack or his kisses out of his mind, and he smiled.
“Ianto….earth to Ianto. What’s with the silly grin?”
“What?....oh sorry Rhi, I was just thinking.”
“Oh yeah, who is she?”
“No….no it’s nothing like that.” Come on Ianto be careful, don’t give anything away.
“What is it then?”
“Oh, just something Jack said about the job last night.” He turned his back on his sister hoping that he was convincing.
“Right, here’s your coffee.”
“Thanks” he’d gotten away with it. Rhi hadn’t noticed anything more than his smile, he really would have to be careful.
“Right, I’m off, I’ll see you tonight. Oh, tell mam I’m not in for dinner tonight, some of us are going out for a meal. So I’ll be home to change, then straight back out?”
“Who’s we?”
“Owen, Tosh, Jack and the two guys who’s house we’re building.” He hoped his sister believed him.
“Oh, ok, right. I’ll tell mam. See you then.”
Ianto breathed a sigh of relief she’d believed him. Possibly because she’d not had much sleep if Mica had been crying. He smiled as he walked to work.
Jack was first on site. He’d wanted to pick Ianto up, but when he’d suggested it the previous night, Ianto said it wouldn’t be a good idea, not just yet. Jack had respected his wishes. He’d just opened the outer office door when he saw a familiar figure striding up to him. Jack stopped in his tracks. Every time he set eyes on the man his breath was taken away. Ianto had on the jeans and waistcoat he’d worn the night before, only this time he was wearing a pale lilac shirt, no tie. Jack could see the soft hairs peeking out the open buttons at the top. His mind was transported back to the pair of them on the sofa. Jack smiled and pulled his coat tighter around him as he felt a tightness begin below his waistline.
“Morning Jack, how are you?”
“I’m good Ianto. What about you? Did you sleep well last night?”
“No not really, I was thinking about us.”
“Oh! Am I going to be worried?”
“No Jack” Ianto looked around to see who else was on site. Seeing no-one he reached for Jack’s hand “no, don’t be worried, I….I enjoyed myself last night. The drink….”
“Which we never finished.”
Ianto smiled, “yeah and….well afterwards at your house, I….I….Oh God!”
“Hey, come on just say what you’re thinking.”
“I want more Jack. More of what we did last night and I want you to teach me how to….”
Jack had been looking around to see if anyone else had arrived, seeing no-one, he pulled Ianto in for a kiss. Pulling back, “I’ll teach you whatever you want to learn. Shall we go inside?”
“Mmmm, I think we better.”
As Jack unlocked their office door, Ianto put the coffee on. He then joined Jack in their office.
“Close the door Yan. Please.”
Ianto did so just in time for Jack to wrap his arms around him and kiss him passionately. Ianto responded by wrapping his arms around Jack and parting his lips to allow Jack’s tongue easy entry. Jack pulled Ianto’s shirt free from his jeans and ran a hand up and down his spine, causing Ianto to moan and shudder. Passions rising, tongues dancing, moans getting louder they realised it was going to be difficult to contain their want whilst they were at work.
Pulling apart “Oh Yan, I’m sorry.”
“What for Jack?” his breathing hard, his reaction below the waist mirroring Jack’s.
“I promised you last night I wouldn’t do this. I’m sorry.”
“Jack, hey, listen. I wanted it as much as you so I guess I’m sorry too. My feelings for you are so strong, it’s scaring me a bit. I want you so much, I also don’t want to disappoint you because of my lack of experience with men.”
“Ianto Jones, you are not disappointing me. And if last night was anything to go by then you’ll be fine. No not fine, better than that. Your touch on me last night was like nothing I’d experienced before. You awakened feelings I’d forgotten I had and it felt fantastic. Now stop fretting, and let me teach you.” He kissed him again.
“Thank you Jack, I….” he didn’t get to say anymore as they heard Gwen shout a good morning as she entered her office.
“Morning, I know there’s someone here as the coffee doesn’t make itself.”
“We’re in here.” Shouted Jack. “A problem came up last night when I got home and we’re just trying to sort it out. Be out in a minute.” He quickly kissed Ianto and went to sit behind his desk. Smiling, the pair took deep breaths as Ianto opened the door.
“Sorry Gwen, we didn’t want any of the men disturbing our meeting. Right, coffee for three I believe. Ianto would you do the honours?”
“Sure Jack, no problem.”
“Is there anything you want me to do? Is the problem sorted out?”
“Thanks for the offer, but I think we have things in hand, eh Ianto?”
“Mmm yes Jack, everything’s good now.” He handed coffees to Gwen and Jack, smiling when Jack winked at him.
Owen and Gray came in, both laughing and chatting. “Hey Harkness, where’s our coffee?”
“Oh, you’ll have to get your own, this is just for management” laughed Jack, “but if you ask nicely, I’m sure Ianto would oblige!”
“Oi, tea boy, any left for us?”
“I said nicely Owen.” They all laughed as Ianto poured more coffee.
“Ok, what’s on the agenda for today?”
Jack was about to answer when Gwen interrupted “Jack’s got a meeting with the glaziers about the stained glass window and Jack and Ianto have just had a meeting to sort out a problem.”
Owen looked from Jack to Ianto to see if he could detect anything. He knew they were going for a drink the previous night, but wondered if anything else had happened. Their faces didn’t reveal anything, he’d have to ask them later.
“Right kids, this standing around talking is not getting the house built, so….let’s get out there and get something done.”
They left, leaving Gwen and Jack alone. Gwen secretly thanked them, now she could talk to Jack about that meal she’d offered. “Jack, have you got a minute?”
“Sure Gwen, anything for a pretty lady.”
Mmm Jack is that what you think? “Erm that meal I asked about. Rhys and I have been talking and if you’re free at the weekend, say Friday or Saturday, we’d love to have you over.”
“Oh….erm….right. I’ll have to see what the boys are doing. I’m not sure if they’re going to be here or in London. Can I let you know?”
“Sure no problem. If you let me know by the end of the day tomorrow, that’ll give me time to get something in.”
“Ok Gwen, and thanks.”
No, thank you Jack, I won’t disappoint you.
Jack found he was missing Ianto. Come on Jack, don’t be stupid, you’ve only just….just what Jack? Kissed him, pleasured him, your feelings shouldn’t be going down that route, not yet, it’s too soon. He picked up his mobile, he felt like a teenager. Hey gorgeous, I’m missing you. When you back in the office? Jack xxx. He looked at what he’d written then pressed send.
Ianto was talking to Andy and Owen when his phone buzzed. The pair of them looked at Ianto who was smiling as he read the message.
“You ok Ianto?”
“What?....Oh yeah Andy, I’m fine why?”
“Oh nothing, just wondered if something had happened, you know, the text.”
“No, everything’s fine. I need to answer this, it’s important.”
Owen had been watching the reaction on his friends face. What aren’t you telling us Ianto? And when Ianto excused himself Owen was determined to find out what it was all about.
Ianto read the text message again. No-one had called him gorgeous before. He couldn’t stop smiling. He answered, I’m missing you too Jack. I’m on my way back now, see you in a couple of minutes. Yan xx He liked being called that by Jack. It was something special just between the pair of them. He pressed send and went back to Andy and Owen.
“Sorry guys, something’s come up that Jack wants a hand with. I’ve got to go back to the office.”
“No problem. We’ll make sure the rest of the bricks are delivered this afternoon. Owen watched as Ianto walked back to the cabins. There is something definitely different about you today Ianto Jones, and I’m going to find out.
Ianto was smiling as he made his way to the office. Come on Ianto, you’re not a teenager who’s in the throes of their first love, you’re a 28 year old man. Stop acting like a lovesick teenager and act your age. But he couldn’t get the previous night out of his mind, nor that kiss first thing this morning. He realised he wanted Jack more than he’d ever wanted anyone before.
“Oh! Ianto, is everything alright? I don’t think Jack was expecting you back just yet, he’s on the phone to the kitchen suppliers.”
“That’s fine Gwen, I just needed to speak to him about the brickwork. I’ll wait. Anyway I need a coffee, I expect Jack does too. You want one?”
“No thanks, and anyway Jack’s too busy to stop for coffee.”
“Hey Gwen, what’s wrong? You get out of the wrong side of the bed this morning? As I recall Jack is the Project Manager, you are his secretary, and before you have a go at me, I know how important secretaries are. It’s just you seem to be taking this job too seriously. Calm down, enjoy it. Jack’s a great guy to work for, he’s generous, laid back and you’ve got to admit looks good in that coat.”
“Do I really Mr Jones?”
Ianto hadn’t realised Jack had finished his call and was stood in the doorway to their office.
“Oh….erm….I was just saying….”
“I heard what you were saying” Jack, Ianto noticed had a cheeky glint in his eyes, but his face was dead pan, “I think we need to discuss what you think of my coat in private, don’t you?”
“Erm….I’m sorry.” Ianto was finding it difficult not to smile. “I’ll make the coffee then shall I?”
“That would be a good idea Mr Jones. Now, Gwen, Ianto and I have got some important decisions to make about overtime, so I’d rather not be disturbed unless there’s an emergency out on site that’s a matter of life or death. Got that?” He winked at her as he said it.
“Oh, ok Jack. What if Damien or Chris ring?”
“Oh you can put them through, they are our clients, but no-one else.”
“Ok Jack.” Gwen watched as the two men went into their office and closed the door. Mmm Jack you are so good looking when you smile, and that wink, just for me. I know you have feelings for me, well I’ll just have to show you what I think of you. I’m going to have you in my bed Jack Harkness, you can count on that.
Jack closed the door behind him, watched Ianto put the coffee mugs on the desk then pulled him in for a kiss.
“Jack, you’re risking it a bit aren’t you? Sending me texts like that.”
“I’m sorry. Have I overstepped the mark Yan?”
“No, I was missing you too.” He kissed his Captain. “I’m scared Jack.”
“About what?”
“My feelings for you! I’ve never experienced such intense feelings for anyone and….well I like it. But should I?”
“Of course you should. I enjoyed our time together last night and I know I want more. It’s what you want though.”
“I want more too Jack. I nearly let slip to Owen I was at yours last night….but I stopped myself. I didn’t want to put my foot in anything I know what we talked about.”
“Look, as I said, it’s up to you when and who you tell.”
“Thank you.” And he kissed Jack again, arms wrapping around one another. Ianto reached down and palmed his hand over the front of Jack’s trousers causing the older man to moan.
Jack’s lips parted, allowing Ianto’s tongue entrance to dance with his own. His reactions to the young man’s touch sending bolts of lightning to every nerve ending in his body. God Ianto, if you can do this to me fully clothed, I can’t wait to feel your naked body against mine.
Finally breaking apart for much needed air, “Yan, I want you so very much.”
“I know Jack, and I feel the same. But we’re going to have to be careful whilst we’re at work. I’d hate for you to be the talk of the site. I’ve seen it happen before. One of my Project Managers ended up having an affair with his secretary and one of the female engineers at the same time. To begin with he managed to keep the pair separate, but at the Christmas party they found out about each other, and….well you can imagine the scene. To top it all he was a married man with kids as well.”
Jack looked slightly hurt. “Is that all we are Yan, an affair?”
“No Jack, we’re not just….an affair. I want, no hope we’re much more than that. I was just saying that things can get sticky….”
“Mmm, like last night!”
“Jack! I’m being serious here. All three had to leave the site. It wasn’t a nice situation.”
“I’m sorry Yan, I shouldn’t make jokes like that. But us, we’re not going to be like those three. Our situation is different….isn’t it?”
“I hope so Jack. I really want to be with you, but you’re going to have to be patient with me….”
Jack kissed him again. “Stop saying that. I want you Ianto Jones and I’m prepared to wait for as long as you want me to. I don’t do, as Owen would say, part time shags. Not when my feelings for you are as strong as they are. You keep saying you’re scared, well if I’m truthful, so am I.”
“Why are you scared Jack?”
“Because I’m a lot older than you and I’m scared that you’ll think one day soon that I’m too old for you and find someone younger. You know, your age.”
“Oh Jack….stop right there.” He pulled him closer, “I’m not going anywhere, I’m staying for as long as you’ll have me.” And he kissed the older man, just as Jack’s phone on his desk rang.
Jack pulled away “sorry” and clearly annoyed at the interruption, answered “what did I tell you Gwen, we didn’t want to be disturbed. This had better be good.”
“I’m sorry, but Damien and Chris have just arrived, they said it’s important that they speak to you.”
Jack looked across at Ianto who hadn’t moved from leaning against the door, he mouthed another sorry and Ianto smiled an ok.
“Alright, send them in, we’ve just about finished anyway.”
Gwen must have told the boys that Ianto was with Jack, as they knocked before they entered.
Closing the door behind him Chris smiled “mmm new type of meeting going on here guys?”
Ianto blushed remembering how they’d caught them the previous night. “We were just discussing….”
“Discussing the next time you had the house to yourselves!”
“Chris, leave them alone.”
“Sorry Jack, Ianto, Damien is right I shouldn’t make comments.”
“Hey, it’s ok.” Smiled Ianto “if you want to know, Jack and I are….well we’re….” He couldn’t find the right words, so surprising both himself and Jack, he went around the back of Jack, put his arms around his neck and kissed him.
“Wow Yan, I thought….?”
“Yeah, I know what I said, but I trust Damien and Chris and I can’t hide my feelings for you any longer.”
All four smiled.
“I’d just like to say one thing.”
“Chris whenever have you only said one thing before?” laughed Jack.
“I….well, I for one will not say anything to anyone until you tell me that you’re ready to let people know.”
Ianto still had his arms around Jack, “thank you.”
“Ianto Jones, you are the best thing to happen to our Jack for a long time, and we thank you.”
“Right, enough of confessions, what are you boys doing here anyway?”
“Oh yeah, sorry, got a bit distracted for a minute. I’ve got to go to London this afternoon so we won’t be around for dinner tonight. We thought you’d better know before you buy the food. Anyway, I’ve got to be there for the next week, so you’ll have the house to yourselves.” Chris smiled.
“So why couldn’t you just ring?”
“I wanted to say goodbye for now, in person. And to see if last night was true, that you and Ianto were together, and that I can see is true.”
They all laughed, just as Gwen knocked and opened the door. Ianto quickly moved away from Jack.
“Sorry to bother you, but Gray’s just been in saying there’s a problem with the foundations on the east side of the house and he needs someone to go and sort it out.”
“I’ll go Jack. You stay and chat with the guys. We’ll continue our conversation later.” He left smiling.
