zazajbwho started me with these and I hope it goes someway to making her smile.
A/N2 Apologies for any of you who are getting this multiple times, it's cross posted
A/N3 Some of the incidents that are mentioned in the story have actually happened. They were incidents that were on sites I've worked on
Jack and Ianto arrived for work on Monday together. Making sure no one was looking Jack leant across and kissed Ianto before they got out of the SUV.
Closing the doors, they heard a voice “well, well, well, if it isn’t the Captain and the tea boy!”
“Owen Harper, you are so predictable sometimes.”
“What do you mean?”
“You’ve always got names for everyone.”
“Well it makes life more interesting….although I can see interesting things have been happening this weekend.”
Ianto blushed, Jack reached for his hand and Owen smiled. “So, come on then is one of you going to give me details? Tosh will kill me if I go home without gossip.”
Ianto looked at Jack who leant across and whispered only what you want him to know sweetheart, it’s still your call.
Ianto took a deep breath “Owen Harper, you can tell the beautiful Toshiko that yes Jack and I are together and yes I spent the weekend at Jack’s.”
Owen’s mouth fell open. “Wow, erm, not quite what I was expecting, but….erm….great!”
Jack smiled and squeezed Ianto’s hand “We’d appreciate it if you didn’t say anything to anyone on site. Yan’s not ready to broadcast to the workers just yet.”
“Hey I may wind you both up, which I might add is fun.” He laughed “but I also know when to keep my mouth shut. You have my word boys, I won’t say anything.”
“Thank you. Oh by the way Damien and Chris are back late Tuesday so they’ll probably be on site Wednesday.”
“That’s fine, thought they weren’t back till next weekend?”
“They got all their work sorted so are back early.”
“Fine. Right I’d better go open up the guy’s cabins. I’ll see you two later.” Owen left with a smile on his face.
“I love you Ianto Jones and I’m so proud of you.”
“I love you too Jack, but what have I done?”
“Oh Yan, we both know what Owen’s like. His snarky comments, winding people up, and you told him you spent the weekend at mine.”
“They’ve got to know sometimes, now was as good a time as any.”
Jack looked again to see if anyone was around and kissed him. “Ok Mr Jones we had better go do some work. Just one thing?”
“Yeah Jack, what’s that?”
“You staying at mine again tonight?”
“Erm….would you mind if I went home tonight? I really need to sort my stuff out at mam’s, she’ll be complaining again about the mess. Plus I’ve no more clean clothes.”
Jack looked disappointed “Oh, ok, but you will come back won’t you? I’m going to miss you.”
“Yes Jack, I’ll come back. I’ll miss you too. Now let’s go do some work.”
Jack wanted to keep hold of Ianto’s hand as they walked through the site to their offices, but the contractors were arriving and he’d remembered what Ianto had said about broadcasting things, so reluctantly he let go.
Ianto went to put the coffee on. As Jack passed him to go to his desk he kissed him on the neck causing a low moan to escape the young man’s lips. Ianto smiled as he watched Jack remove his great coat. He had to admit he did look extremely sexy in it and began thinking what it would feel like wrapped around them after they’d made love. Stop it Ianto! He could feel a tightness beginning in his groin. You’ve got to get on with your work. Be professional. But he smiled at the thought. He’d have to remember to ask Jack about it.
He was brought out of his reverie by a noise behind him. Turning, he saw Gwen coming through the door.
“Morning Gwen” he wasn’t going to mention Friday evening unless she did. “Did you have a nice weekend?”
“Morning Mr Jones. Yes thank you. I won’t ask if you did, I expect you had a very good one after Friday’s revelation.”
“For starters, what’s with the Mr Jones? And secondly we had a very nice meal, as did you all. The restaurant is very good.”
“Yes it is. As for the Mr Jones, well you are management and after all I’m just the secretary.”
Jack had heard the exchange between his lover and his secretary and went through. “What happens outside of work is our own business. We are here to get a job done, and I hope that we are all friends. I think Gwen, we need to talk privately. Would you come through here please?”
Jack looked at Ianto who nodded, picked up his hard hat and went out to check everything was ok. Gwen went through to Jack’s office, was about to close the door then remembered what Jack had said on Friday, so left it open.
“Sit down Gwen, please.” Jack didn’t want an argument, but he did want to know what was going on. “Gwen you are good at your job, so I don’t want to have to let you go. Plus Rhys would want to know why, and I somehow don’t think he’d be too thrilled to hear what happened on Thursday evening. Because my guess is, you’ve not said anything to him, have you?”
“No, I haven’t.” She looked directly into Jack’s eyes.
“So Gwen, what….what’s with your actions? Tell me the truth, I’m not going to shout at you. I just want to know what’s going on.”
“The truth?” She looked at Jack who smiled and nodded. “I like you Jack, you are a lovely man, I wanted to….to be with you. To have you kiss me, I suppose I wanted some excitement. I see now that isn’t going to happen, you’re with Mr Jones.” Be careful Gwen, don’t over do it. “Sorry Ianto, and you’re happy. I didn’t realise you were….well I’m sorry Jack, please forgive me? I promise it’ll not happen again.” Not yet anyway Jack, I’m still going to have you and you’ll see I’m far better than Ianto Jones, I can make you happy.
“Gwen, I was flattered, but not since I was in high school have I had a girlfriend. Even then I knew I felt different. Don’t get me wrong I can see a pretty girl when there is one. Let’s just chalk this up as a misunderstanding. You have Rhys who I can well see loves you very much. You’re engaged and I suppose are waiting to set a date, if you haven’t already. Concentrate on the man that loves you, I know deep down you love him too, so don’t spoil it. Let’s get this job done, ok?”
“Yeah, ok. I’m sorry Jack.” She hoped he believed her. “I do love Rhys and I promise I won’t mention the incident again.” Well not yet anyway.
“That’s fine. Now, remember, don’t go to bed on an argument. Always make up beforehand.” He smiled.
“Thanks Jack. I’ll remember that.”
“Now, go sort yourself out and let’s get back to work.”
“Ok.” She got up, “you want a coffee, Ianto put some on before he went out on site.”
“Mmm, please, sounds a good idea.” He watched her as she went through to her office. She was good at her job and he didn’t want to see her go. He hoped that was the last of it.
Gwen breathed a sigh of relief. She really thought Jack would tell her to leave. She smiled to herself, she had to let things lie for now. She had all of the contract to make him realise he should be with her and not Ianto. Making the coffee she began thinking what her next move would be.
Ianto was wandering around the site, smiling to himself. Trying to concentrate on checking the site was ok after the weekend, he didn’t see Gray coming towards him.
“Morning Ianto, did you have a good weekend?”
“Oh, morning Gray….erm, yes thank you, did you?”
“It was ok. How’s Jack?” Gray saw the look of surprise on Ianto’s face, and then the slow creep of a pink tinge work its way up his neck to his face. Gray smiled.
Ianto’s blushing now deeper “erm…fine….why?”
“Oh, just wondered. Not seen him yet today. Tried to ring him yesterday but go no answer.”
“No we were in b….we were out most of the day.” Ianto be careful you nearly told Gray you spent the day in bed.
“Oh, I see. Well tell him mum and dad want to know when he’s going around again.”
“Oh….erm….ok. Yeah, I’m going back to the office soon, I’ll pass the message on.”
“And Ianto!”
“Yep?”
“You’re the best thing that’s happed to Jack in a very long time. You deserve to ignore the phone” and he walked off smiling.
Ianto smiled also. If truth be known he’d had a fantastic weekend and realised he was missing Jack. Stop it, Yan you don’t rush this. You’re going home to your mam’s tonight, you need to take this one day at a time. He didn’t want to go home, he wanted to stay with Jack. He got his phone out missing you cariad, love you. Yan xxx He pressed send and carried on checking the site.
Jack was on the phone to the scaffolding firm when his phone buzzed. He smiled when he saw the caller ID. Reading it he nearly forgot he was supposed to be arranging for the scaffolders to come to site.
“Ok, I’ll expect the first gang on site Thursday….yeah I’ll need a second gang next week….no the Monday would be a better idea….ok, yeah, I’ve got an APM who is looking after that part of the job….no he will know where they need to go….right I’ll expect a gang of six Thursday then a further gang of ten the following Monday. Great, see them then, bye.” He hung up and went back to his phone. He read the message again. What had Chris said, ask him to move in? Was it too soon? He’d wait a couple of days. He texted back missing you too, want to have lunch? Love you. Jack xxx He read it and pressed send.
Ianto was talking to the bricklayers who were working on the south side of the house. They’d had two of their crew fail to turn up. Ianto offered to help out. His phone buzzed. Reading the message he smiled, he’d love to spend more time with Jack, but this problem with the brickies was important and anyway he could make it up to Jack later. He texted back problem with the brickworkers south side, so going to help them out. Make up later. Love you, Yan xxx
Jack was disappointed when he read the message but he liked the idea of making up later. Mmm that’s a promise my love. Jack xxx
Ianto smiled when he read Jack’s last message. He’d been helping the brickies and was enjoying himself.
As the day wore on it got warmer, he’d noticed the contractors removing their shirts. Oh what the hell Ianto, you’re a contractor. So off came his red shirt. The brickies had noticed and smiled. He was the first APM they’d known to help out in a difficult situation.
Jack had been busy writing letters to the sub-contractors and didn’t realise what the time was. When he checked he’d realised Ianto hadn’t been back for his lunch. He decided to go find him.
“Gwen, just off to check things on the south side. I shouldn’t be too long, if there are any problems send Gray or Owen for me, they’re in their office.”
“Ok, no problem.” She watched him go. He’d left his great coat in his office and rolled his shirt sleeves up. She could see the muscles of his biceps through the fabric and began wondering what it felt like to be held in the strong arms.
Jack donned his hard hat and made his way to the south side. All the while looking for Ianto in his red shirt. He was getting worried, he couldn’t see him. He’d not sent a text saying he was on his way back, no he’d have heard it. He looked again and stopped in his tracks. There bent down moving bricks was a bare chested Ianto. Jack had to take a deep breath, he could feel his blood supply heading south, and he didn’t want the contractors to notice. He resisted the urge to go and wrap his arms around the young man’s waist. Instead he took another deep breath and approached his Ianto.
“There you are Mr Jones.”
Ianto looked up into the blue grey eyes of his Jack. “Oh, Captain Harkness, yeah, the guys are two down so I thought I’d give them a hand. Was there something you wanted me for?”
Jack leant in and whispered “I always want you Yan.” Then said loud enough for the bricklayers to hear, “just to let you know the scaffolders will be on site Thursday.”
“Great, they can start here. By then the brickwork will be high enough for them to work.” This time he whispered “and I want you Jack.” He smiled.
“Mr Jones, if you’ve got a few minutes at the end of the day, can we have a brief meeting in the office to discuss where the other gang of scaffolders would be more useful when they arrive on Monday.”
“No problem Captain. Just give me about an hour.” He looked at the lead brickie who nodded, “then I’m all yours.” He grinned.
Jack had to put his hands in his trouser pockets otherwise he would have pulled Ianto in for a kiss. Instead he whispered “I can’t wait, love you” and walked off.
Ianto watched as Jack made his way back to their office. With his hands in his pockets the fabric of Jack’s trousers were taught across his arse. Ianto could feel a tightening in his groin and had to take several deep breaths to calm down. He couldn’t let the contractors see the effect Jack had on him.
