A/N3 Some of the incidents that are mentioned in the story have actually happened. They were incidents that were on sites I've worked on
Jack pulled into the site car park noticing Owen’s car there before them. “Tosh must have kicked Owen out of bed early this morning.”
“Jack you’re so bad. There may be a perfectly good explanation. Let’s wait and find out.”
They got out the vehicle and unusually Jack felt Ianto reach for his hand. He smiled, his young man really was becoming more confident and comfortable showing his feelings. Jack entwined his fingers with Ianto’s. Ianto turned to look at Jack, smiled then leant over and kissed him.
“Mmm Mr Jones, that was unexpected. Very nice though.”
“I’ve decided Jack.” He looked into the blue grey eyes he’d fallen so deeply in love with, “I’ve decided, if it’s alright with you, not to hide what I feel for you, to anyone. Unless….it’s going to make things difficult for you on site.”
“Oh Yan, you don’t know how much that means to me. Most people who work for me know who I am. I have no problem with you telling everyone.”
“I’m not going to shout it out loud, I’m just not going to hide my feelings for you. I love you Jack and want people to know.”
Jack stopped walking and pulled Ianto towards him. “Kiss me.”
“I just did.”
“No properly. Please Yan.”
Ianto wound his arms around Jack and kissed him. Jack parted his lips to allow Ianto’s tongue easy entrance. Passions rising, breathing getting faster, hips pressing together they felt twin arousals beginning.
Pulling apart, “mmm Ianto, thank you.”
“What for cariad.”
“Saying yes to going for that drink with me last week. Saying yes to moving in with me.”
“It’s going to be our pleasure.” They smiled and headed for the office.
Owen had been watching his friends and smiled when he saw them kiss, he couldn’t believe how hot they looked together. Tosh had said something about it, but he’d never really taken much notice, why would he? But looking at them now he saw how much they meant to one another.
“Morning Doc, you’re early. What’s up, Tosh kick you out of bed?”
“No Jack, I need a favour.”
“Sure name it.” Jack still had his arms around Ianto.
“I was wondering if I could leave a bit earlier today, say around 3.30?”
“Is there something wrong?”
“No….it’s just….well there’s something I’ve got to do before tonight.”
“Oh I get it, Tosh has got you doing the shopping.”
“Sort of, but you’ll have to wait until later.”
“Alright, no problem. Ianto’s having a couple of hours off this morning, he’s got a couple of errands to do. So he’s taking the SUV and going to do them.”
“Great Jack, thanks. Is it anything I can help with?”
“No it’s ok Owen, I’ll let you know what’s happening tonight.”
“Ok, I see we’ve both got surprises.”
Jack raised his eyebrows and smiled, Ianto leant into him and kissed his neck.
“Oh please boys, enough this early in a morning. I’ve already seen your affections earlier.” He laughed.
“You’re only jealous of me because I’ve got a hot young man.” Jack squeezed Ianto tighter.
“On that note I’ll leave you two to get on with whatever, and thanks Jack. I’ll see you both tonight.”
“I’m intrigued, but hey no problem that’s what friends are for.” They watched Owen disappear, he definitely had a spring in his step.
“Right Jack, I’m going to go get my stuff taken to yours”
“Ours Yan, it’s ours now, don’t forget.”
“Mmm how could I when you’re there cariad.” He kissed his Captain just as Gwen and Rhys walked through the door.
“I’ll see you later sweetheart.”
“Definitely Jack, I love you. Oh morning Gwen, Rhys.” Ianto disappeared leaving Jack smiling, Gwen and Rhys open mouthed.
“Erm morning Jack.”
“Hi Rhys, you ok?”
“Yeah, that was a surprise.”
“What? You mean Gwen’s not told you?” He looked at his secretary, “she knew about us moving in and she didn’t say anything?”
“I knew after we saw you on Friday that you were together, just didn’t realise how serious it was. Congratulations Jack, I’m pleased for you.”
“Thank you Rhys, I’ll tell Ianto when he comes back.”
“Ok then, I’ll see you later Gwen, love you. And Jack….again congratulations, I’ll not say anything unless you tell me it’s ok.”
“Thanks Rhys, but Ianto’s happy with people knowing. I’d just appreciate it if you only said something if they ask. Don’t just tell everyone.”
“No worries Jack, see you both later.” He left.
“So, you’re still going ahead with him moving in?”
“If you mean by him, Ianto, then yes, that’s what he’s doing this morning. It would be nice if you could be happy for us Gwen, like Rhys clearly is.”
“You know what I think Jack, but I promised not to mention it anymore, so I’ll leave it at that.”
“Ok, but just to reiterate, I love Ianto with all my heart and no-one is going to take that away from me.” He left her to go check the site and see how far the brickwork was getting along.
Gwen watched her boss go, she was still determined to show him what he was missing.
Ianto called at his mam’s on his way from site. He’d see what he could get in the SUV before he asked Damien and Chris to help. The fewer times he bumped into Rhi the better. He was just fitting one more box into the boot when he heard a noise behind him. Turning around he came face to face with Johnny,
“Morning Johnny, how are you this fine morning?” Nothing could put a damper on Ianto’s feelings, not even his so called brother in law.
“Well if it isn’t gay boy!”
“Johnny I don’t care what you, or Rhi, for that matter, think about me and Jack. Like you I’m in love with someone very special and whatever you say to me or about me, will not change how I feel for Jack. And you’ve got nothing to be worried about, I’m not going to jump on you now or in the future. Besides, you’re not my type. See you Johnny!” Ianto got into the SUV and drove off. Looking in the rear view mirror he noticed Johnny still standing where he’d left him, open mouthed staring at the vehicle. Ianto smiled and felt pleased with himself for not letting his obnoxious brother in law get under his skin. Nothing or no-one was going to split him and Jack up.
He arrived at Jack’s to be greeted by Damien and Chris. “Ianto, we’re so pleased to see you.” They hugged him and grinned. “You’ve made Jack so happy, he’s back to his old self again.”
“Thanks boys, I love him with all my heart. I never thought for one moment I’d be so happy in a relationship with another man, but he’s gorgeous, he makes me laugh and he’s….well….you know?”
“Yeah, we do. If there’s ever anytime you want any help with anything just let us know.”
“Well….actually….there’s still some of my stuff at mam’s. You wouldn’t mind coming back with me in your car to help? I’d appreciate it.”
“No problem, tell you what, I’ll stay and put some coffee on, Damien can follow you. How’s that?”
“Great thanks.”
Ianto took Damien to his mams for the remainder of his stuff. He was hoping he wouldn’t bump into Johnny again. Luckily neither he or Rhi were there, so they got his clothes and last couple of boxes and left. He introduced Damien to his mam, then said goodbye telling her she was welcome at Jack’s whenever she wanted.
His mam watched them go. Inwardly she was sad to see him leave, but so very pleased for him. She could see how much in love he was.
Ianto got back on site just before lunch. He’d stopped at the deli near his mam’s and got sandwiches for him and Jack. Entering the office he saw Gwen busy typing a report.
“Hi Gwen, great day isn’t it?”
“Mmm if you say so. It’ll not last.”
“Look Miss Cooper,” Ianto was getting sick of her negativity, “be happy for us, remember when you and Rhys moved in together? Well, we’re in love. So get over it if you want to keep you job.”
“You can’t finish me.”
“No, but I can, and if Ianto tells me you’ve said anymore about us to anyone, that will be the end of your job.” Ianto went and stood with Jack who placed a protective arm around him.
“I’m sorry Jack, I promise, no more comments.”
Jack looked at his secretary and nodded his head then took Ianto into their office and closed the door.
“I’m getting worried Jack, why has she got it into her head we won’t last long?”
“Don’t know my love, I’m hoping Tosh will be able to shed some light on it tonight.”
“We are ok, aren’t we Jack?”
“Hey, come here.” Ianto went over and Jack circled his arms around him. “Yan we are more than ok.” He kissed him.
“I’ve brought us lunch, oh and this was at home waiting for you.” He handed an embossed envelope to Jack. “It looked important and didn’t think it would wait until tonight.”
“Thanks, not sure what it is though.” Jack opened the envelope and grinned when he read what was inside.
“What is it cariad?”
“I’ve been nominated, well the company has, for an award at the annual Welsh Construction Company’s Awards.”
“What is it you’ve been nominated for? The sexiest boss around.” Ianto laughed.
“Mmm good category, but no, Best Working Practice on site. What they do is contact past and present clients and ask them for their opinions, then they ask a selection of sub contractors for their feedback on what it’s like to work on site for Torchwood Construction. I’ve heard of it, but never been nominated before.”
“That’s fantastic Jack, when is it?”
“Saturday and it’s a black tie affair. You got a dinner suit?”
“Yeah, but….”
“But what sweetheart? The invite says Mr J Harkness and partner. You’re my partner, so you’re coming.”
“If you want me there?”
“Of course I do, I want you to be at my side for everything. It says I can bring four other guests. How about we invite Owen and Tosh?”
Ianto nodded, “hey what about your brother.”
“Oh yeah, and I’ve got the best companion for him too.”
“Who’s that?”
“Do you remember Dawn, my secretary from Torchwood House?” Ianto nodded. “Well she fancies Gray so….!”
“Jack you have got a wicked streak.”
“I know, that’s why you love me.”
“That and this….” Ianto pulled Jack close and kissed him passionately. Both reacting to the intensity of the kiss. Ianto reached down and palmed his hand over Jack’s reaction.
Breaking apart, “mmm Yan we’re going to have to do something about our problem. I need some air, do you feel like checking the site with me?” Jack stroked the front of Ianto’s jeans causing a moan to escape both their mouths.
“Yes please Jack.”
They took deep breaths, waited for their reactions to calm down and headed out.
“Jack….”
“Yes Yan?”
“Bring the coat!”
“Oh, what do you have in mind?”
“It’ll keep us warm!”
“You have the best ideas Mr Jones.” He took the coat from the peg on the back of their office door and smiled at Gwen as they left.
