The skating finished and Ianto needed to get out. He didn’t want to have to speak to the Captain. He wouldn’t know what to say. He wouldn’t be able to hide his reaction, not if the man were to get close.
“Mica, Rhi, I’ll see you outside, I’ve just got a phone call to make, something I should have done earlier.”
“But Uncle Ianto, you said you’d say hi to Jack, you know, the Captain.”
“Maybe another time, I really must make this call.” Without hearing what his niece said he’d gone. So his name was Jack was it? Stop right there, why would you want to know that? But he smiled, if felt good to put a name to the face and yeah he was good looking. He got outside and had to take more deep breaths.
Jack had been about to go over and speak to Mica and her mother when he saw the young man leave again. He needed to know more about his man.
Mica was disappointed that Ianto had gone again, she had so wanted to introduce her Uncle to the Captain.
Jack approached Mica and Rhi “before you go Mrs Davies, for me to be able to enter Mica I must ask that you read these rules and sign the back. Is that ok?”
“Yeah sure, Mica go tell Ianto what’s delaying us. See if he’s finished his phone call first, don’t interrupt him.”
“Ok mam.” And she was gone.
Whilst Rhi was reading the papers Jack had given her, he watched where the young girl went. So….his name is Ianto. But what relation is he to these two. If he’d been Mica’s father then she would have called him that. Stop Jack, he could be her step father. You’ve got to get him out of your mind, he’s taken.
Mica came back. “He’s still on the phone.”
“Ok sweetheart. I’m done here anyway. Here you go Jack, is there anything else?”
“I have extra lesson time booked on Sundays, if you want to bring Mica for some extra practice that would be great.”
“Please mam, can I? we don’t do anything on a Sunday but go watch boring football when dad’s playing.”
So he plays football too, no wonder he’s fit. “If it’s going to be a problem I’m sure we could arrange for someone to pick her up and drop her home again. Her friend Karen is here on a Sunday, maybe she could bring Mica.”
“Please mam, can I. You know I don’t like going to watch football.”
“Ok, ok, I can drop you off then go watch your dad. Would that be ok Mr Harkness? I would get my brother to pick her up just in case the football match takes longer.”
“That’s fine, we’ll see you on Sunday then Mica. I’m sorry but I need to speak to a couple of the others before they go, please excuse me.” He was gone.
“Do you think Uncle Ianto would pick me up?”
“I’m sure he would, come on let’s go find him and ask.”
Jack watched as Mica and her mother left to find the gorgeous young man.
“Uncle Ianto, Uncle Ianto….” Mica was bouncing as she ran up to him, “I’m entering a competition next month and the Captain has said I can have extra time on the ice. Will you come with me? Pleeaase!”
Ianto looked from Mica to Rhi questioningly.
“Oh don’t worry Ianto I was only going to ask you to pick her up when she’s finished. I don’t want you to stay with her. I know you have other things to do at a weekend. But it would be great if you could pick her up at 4pm for me.”
“How can I resist a cute girl like my niece.” He could stay in his car and wait till she came out, he didn’t have to go to the rink. That way he wouldn’t have to see that man. “Ok, I’ll pick you up.”
“Yay! Come on let’s go get some tea” and she was off.
Jack was watching the scene between the young man and his family and felt a stirring beginning again. He would have to find out more about this man, this was getting ridiculous, he’d woken feelings Jack thought he would never have again. If it turned out he was reading things wrong then he’d have to get over it. He found he was wishing Sunday would hurry up, he would ask Mica if he was her father. Yep that’s what he’d do, make the excuse he wanted to know how many tickets she wanted for the competition. He smiled to himself as he watched the three of them leave.
Sunday arrived and Jack found he was looking forward to the extra lessons. He often thought that they were tiring and sometimes let his assistant do them. When she’d asked if he wanted Sunday off this week he’d said no, it was her turn. He had to find out more about this man.
Ianto had tried to get his letter drafted all day Saturday but found his concentration wavered and went back to the man with the gorgeous blue grey eyes. He’d felt stirrings again whenever he thought about him. He’d even smiled at the thought that he may see him again on Sunday. He’d rung Rhi on Saturday night and offered to take Mica too. He didn’t know why but he wanted to know more about the Captain.
Sunday arrived and he went to pick Mica up. Arriving at the rink Mica talked him into going in with her. As he entered he saw Jack stood across the rink, his back to them sorting out the music, this time he was wearing the great coat Rhi had told him about. Ianto held his breath, Rhi was right it was gorgeous.
“Uncle Ianto….Uncle Ianto, are you ok?”
“What….erm….sorry Mica, yeah I’m fine. Just wish I’d brought a coat or something with me, it’s a bit cold in here.”
“Oh Uncle Ianto you’re a wimp, it’s not that bad, anyway if you sit over there” she pointed near to where Jack was, “the sun comes in that window and you’ll be warm.”
Ianto nodded, realising that because of the cold his nipples had hardened and were showing through his thin t-shirt. He was still watching Jack when he turned around. God Ianto, that man is gorgeous in that coat. He looked straight into those eyes and saw Jack smile. Shit, this shouldn’t be happening. He could feel a reaction below his waist. He would have to sit down, he couldn’t let Mica or Jack for that matter, see what was happening to him.
“I’m going to sit and watch you if that’s ok?”
“Yay, you missed me on Friday, so that’s brilliant.” Mica was off onto the ice. He saw her skate over to where Jack was and she was animatedly talking to him and pointing back in Ianto’s direction. Oh God, what’s she saying about me? He managed a smile, then saw Jack making his way around the rink in his direction. Ianto daren’t stand up he would be so embarrassed if the older man saw the now prominent bulge at the front of his trousers. He really couldn’t understand why this was happening, just that the man making his way towards him was gorgeous and that smile.
Jack hadn’t seen Mica and Ianto enter the rink, but when he turned around he came face to face with the young man. He smiled, so he’d come back, he was determined to speak to him. Jack saw Mica heading his way.
“Hi Jack, I said I’d be here, what would you like me to do?”
“Let’s begin with that short programme I taught you last week. If you can do that I’ll go let whoever came with you know how long you’re going to be.” He didn’t hear Mica call Ianto her uncle as Jack was already making his way over to the young man.
Ianto braced himself and took a deep breath hoping everything would calm down before Jack got to him.
As Jack approached the young man he noticed he was wearing a thin t-shirt and as it was cold in the rink the young man’s nipples were prominent through the fabric. Nngh, calm down Jack. If he looks this hot fully clothed what would he look like with hard nipples and naked? Jack had to take several deep breaths. He could feel his reaction beginning again. He was just pleased he had his great coat on and could wrap it around him.
As he approached, Jack held out his hand “good afternoon, I’m Jack Harkness, but everyone calls me the Captain. It’s so nice to meet you Mr Davies, I bet you’re really proud of your daughter?”
Ianto smiled “Erm it’s Jones, Ianto Jones and I’m Mica’s uncle, but yeah I’m proud of her too.” He shook Jack’s outstretched hand, and as their fingers touched a tingle shot up his hand and arm. Wow Ianto what was that? His hand lingered just a little bit longer than usual in Jack’s firm grip.
Jack couldn’t believe what he’d just heard, this man was Mica’s uncle, and as his fingers touched Ianto’s he felt a tingle run through them and realised the young man’s hand had held onto his just that little bit longer than when anyone else shook his hand.
“Oh….erm….I’m sorry, I thought you were Mica’s father, please forgive me.”
“That’s erm not a problem, I got coerced into bringing her this afternoon, just like I did the other night. Her dad is a long distance lorry driver and well….”
“You’re the taxi?”
“Yep, something like that.” He suddenly realised that this man was American, but hadn’t Rhi said he’d skated for Great Britain?
“Look, I’ll leave you to get on with your lessons, I’m sure you don’t want me disturbing you. I’ll go for a swim.”
Jack smiled at the image he had of Ianto the other day, wet from the pool and had to catch his breath again before he spoke. “You….erm, you don’t have to go, you can always stay and watch Mica if you want. I….erm….I wouldn’t mind. Besides if you get wet then come back in here you’re going to be colder.” Jack’s eyes glanced down at Ianto’s nipples.
“I, well, ok then.”
“And Mica would want you to stay.” Not forgetting how much I’d like you to stay.
“Yeah, she wasn’t very happy when I left on Friday, ok I’ll stay for a while.”
“Great, why don’t you go sit near that window where the sound equipment is. The sun comes in there and it’s a bit warmer when it does.”
“Thanks, I’ll make my way there in a minute. I just need to go get a coffee.” Ianto had to go and calm himself down, and a coffee was a good idea it would warm him up too.
“Ok, I’ll let Mica know you’ll be back.” Jack made his way back around the rink, coat pulled tightly around him. The intensity of those beautiful crystal blue eyes and the man’s hand in his was only making his arousal more prominent and it was the last thing he wanted everyone to see.
Ianto watched Jack as he walked away. He looked down, feeling the tightness of his trousers. This should not be happening, but he smiled when he remembered those gorgeous blue grey eyes of Captain Jack Harkness.
He managed to get his breathing back to normal and as he went to stand at the coffee machine he looked around to make sure no one was looking, then palmed a hand over his arousal. He hoped this was not going to happen again as he was watching Mica. He went back into the rink and went to sit in the sun.
Jack saw Ianto making his way over and smiled, weighing up what he knew, his name was Ianto Jones, he was Mica’s uncle and hopefully he was single. Now all he had to do was find out if that last item was true and if he was, would he go for a drink with him? Jack would wait until the end and then ask him. In the meantime he would be able to watch the gorgeous young man as he taught his students.
Ianto began watching Mica but his eyes kept getting drawn to Jack. He was a little scared at the reaction he’d had to Jack earlier, but found that he rather liked it and wanted to know more about the man.
