Ianto was the first to wake. He looked at the clock, 6.30am, he tried to reach a hand out to turn off the alarm before it went off.
“Mmm don’t move, comfortable.”
“Morning Cariad, I’m sorry, I was just trying to switch the alarm off before it woke you.”
“That’s ok I was just lying here dreaming about this gorgeous man I’m in love with.” Jack smiled and kissed Ianto gently.
“Oh yeah, anyone I know?” Ianto smiled and returned the kiss.
“Mmm well, I happen to be lying in his bed right now with my arms around him.”
“That’s good because I’ve got my arms around the person I love too.” They both laughed. “Jack?”
“Yes sweetheart?”
“How have we got to this point so soon?”
“Don’t you want it?”
“Oh yeah….definitely….but I’ve never had feelings as strong for anyone. I’m scared it’s not real, that it’s not going to last.”
“Hey, I’m not going anywhere, not now I’ve found you. I’m here for keeps or as long as you want me.” He kissed Ianto’s nose and smiled.
“When I woke I thought I’d dreamt everything we did last night. Then I felt your arms around me and….and I knew it was true. Thank you.”
“What for this time?”
“For everything we did and I promise I’ll try not to disappoint you when….when I….”
“Hey, one step at a time my love. We have all the time in the world. For now just enjoy each minute we’re together. I’m not going to leave you just because all this is new to you and you’re unsure. I promised I’d teach you didn’t I?” He saw Ianto nod. “Well then, stop worrying. You’re thinking again aren’t you?” Ianto nodded. “Want to tell me what about?”
“I’m sorry,” Ianto saw Jack’s look, “ok, I know you told me not to apologise, but….I was blaming myself for Lisa leaving me. I didn’t think I was good enough for her.”
“She left you for another woman didn’t she?” Again a nod from the young man. “So, stop beating yourself up over it. She made a choice. And I’m so glad she did, otherwise I wouldn’t have found you and we wouldn’t have had last night. Now stop thinking and kiss me. I haven’t had one this morning, yet.”
Ianto smiled and kissed Jack passionately, his tongue gliding over Jack’s lips asking for entry, which Jack allowed. Breaking for air Ianto looked into the blue grey depths that were his window to Jack’s heart. He smiled.
“What’s wrong Yan?”
“Oh nothing, just….” Ianto began moving down the front of Jack’s neck nipping as he went. He reached the spot where his neck met the top of his torso and began sucking harder. He nipped the skin causing a low moan to escape Jack’s mouth. Ianto reached a hand down and found Jack already hard.
“Oh, shit Yan, so good.”
Ianto stopped sucking at Jack’s neck realising he’d left a deep red bruise that would take a couple of days to disappear. He looked worried.
“What’s wrong?”
“I’ve….oh Jack, I’ve….you’ve got….”
“I don’t care. I want people to know I belong to someone. Now don’t stop what you were doing, it feels so good.”
Ianto smiled and kissed him. Remembering what Jack had done the previous night he began his journey south. All the while taking tiny nips at the older man’s flesh. He reached a nipple and nipped that between his teeth, then as Jack moaned he licked it better before sucking on it until it peaked.
“Oh God Yan, nngh….that’s….” Jack couldn’t say anything, his mind couldn’t focus on anything but what Ianto was doing with his teeth.
Ianto kissed the nipple then made his way across to the other, giving that equal attention. He still had his hand wrapped around Jack’s length and as he nipped and sucked he felt it twitch in his hand. He was remembering more of what Jack had done to him the previous night, so began kissing his way down Jack’s body.
He reached Jack’s arousal and looked up into the gorgeous eyes of his Captain. “Do you want me….”
“More than anything sweetheart, but only if you want to.”
“Yeah Jack, I do, but….help me….please.”
“Go as slowly as you want, just remember to relax. Any time you want to stop then that’s fine with me. You’re making me feel good and yes I want more.”
Ianto smiled and kissed Jack’s length. Jack stroked Ianto’s hair and gasped as the young man took him into his mouth.
“Nnngh….Yan….oh God, so….good.”
Ianto started licking and sucking on Jack as he moved up and down. He smiled as he felt Jack’s hands tighten in his hair.
“Not….going to be able….nngh….Yan.”
Jack could feel the pressure building. He had never felt like this before. The tightness in his stomach, the pulsing in his arousal, he knew he wasn’t going to last much longer.
Ianto got faster, wanting so much to please the older man. He heard moans escaping Jack’s mouth, he thought he heard him talking but it wasn’t anything coherent. Then like a volcano Jack erupted screaming Ianto’s name. Ianto knew what he should do but nearly gagged as Jack’s love for him travelled down into him. He managed to control his reflexes and realised he too was on the verge of coming.
He released Jack and moved up to kiss him, wrapping his own hand around himself. Jack tasted himself on the young man and realised what he was doing. He then placed a hand over Ianto’s and together they brought the young man to a screaming climax.
Breathing returning to normal, sweat soaked bodies coming down from an orgasmic high, Jack was the first to speak.
“My gorgeous Ianto….thank you. I’ve never felt so good in all my life. You are….”
“Did I….did I do right Jack?”
“Mmm you certainly did. I love you and I want everyone to know.” He saw the worried look in his lovers’ eyes. “But only when you’re ready. I know it’s going to be difficult for you and I promise I’ll not let you go through it on your own.”
“Thank you Cariad. I’m not worried about my friends, it’s my sister that I’m more scared of telling. You’ve seen how scary she can be!” They both laughed.
“Look, let’s cross that bridge later today. We had better get cleaned up and you Mr Jones had better get to work. I’m working from home today so I don’t have anyone looking over my shoulder. But you….you have an important job to do at the Council. Come on, let’s grab a shower and get you to work.”
“Mmm….I suppose, but I want to spend the day in bed with you.” He kissed Jack quickly.
“I know, and I’d like nothing better, but you have to go in. I’ll see you soon enough at skating tonight. And remember you’re going to show Mica what you’ve learnt.”
“Duh! Do I really have to?”
“Oh yes Mr Jones, I’m not letting you get out of it that easily. Besides I’ll be there with you to catch you if you fall. I’m not going to see that cute arse of yours damaged for anything.” Jack laughed as he slapped Ianto’s arse as they made their way to the shower.
Several sensual minutes later they emerged. Jack watched as Ianto dressed in a blue pinstripe suit, burgundy shirt and dark blue tie. He had to take a deep breath as his blood supply headed south. If he hadn’t he’d never have let Ianto go to work.
Ianto glanced at the clock as he watched Jack take his coat from the back of the door, 7.30am, he had about an hour before he had to be in his office.
“Coffee?”
“Mmm yes please that would be great.”
“I could nip up the road for some croissants too if you want?”
“No, I’ll grab something when I get home, I don’t want to miss spending a minute with you. It’s going to be a long time till I see you tonight.”
“Ok, coffee it is then.”
They made their way to the kitchen, Jack not letting go of Ianto’s hand. “I meant what I said Yan, I love you and I’m not going anywhere.”
“I know Jack, I love you too. I know you’re not, not after last night, I just hope I didn’t disappoint you this morning.”
“Oh believe me Ianto, you certainly didn’t do that. Now, hadn’t you better be getting to work before you get into trouble?”
“Mmm I suppose. Do you mind if I….if I tell my friend Tosh?”
“Sweetheart, you can shout it from the rooftops for all I care. I want the world to know that I’m in love with a fantastic guy. But I know it’s difficult for you so you tell whoever and whenever you want. I’ll support you, you know that.”
“Thank you Jack. I’d love you to meet Tosh and her boyfriend Tommy.”
“And when you’re ready I will. Now Mr Jones, come on let’s get you to work.”
Jack left Ianto at his gate and walked back to the Leisure Centre to pick up his SUV. He was smiling all the way there, calculating how long he had to wait until he saw his lover again.
Ianto watched Jack in his rear view mirror as he walked off down the street. Ianto had a silly grin on his face, but he didn’t care. He was in love with a gorgeous man and he’d decided he wanted everyone to know, starting with Tosh.
He arrived at work and as he made his way to his office his phone bleeped. He remembered he’d given Jack his mobile number the previous night but didn’t think he’d hear from him this quickly.
Morning gorgeous, I’m missing you already. Can’t wait till later, I love you and want the world to know.
Ianto smiled as he read it. He texted back. Morning to you too Jack. I’ve decided to shout it from the rooftops that I’m in love with the most gorgeous man ever. Looking forward to later. Love you Cariad. He pressed send just as Tosh walked through the door.
“Morning Ianto….wow you look….”
“What Tosh….what’s wrong?”
“Oh nothing’s wrong, you look fantastic. Come on you’ve got to tell me who she is that’s putting this loved up look on your face.”
“Can you close the door please Tosh. What I’ve got to say I’d rather it not be broadcast to everyone, not just yet. They’ll find out soon enough.”
Tosh did as he asked. “Ok Mr Jones, spill the beans, who is she and when do we get to meet her?”
Ianto sat down, a worried look on his face. “Erm, that’s the thing it’s….erm….it’s, oh shit Tosh, his name is Jack Harkness.” He looked at his best friend. When he saw her smile he released his breath he was holding.
“Oh Ianto, I’m so pleased for you. He must be a wonderful man to put that look on your face.”
“You, don’t….think I’m….”
“Ianto, I’ve not seen you happier. Not even Lisa could put that kind of look on your face. When do we get to meet him?”
“Oh….erm….not sure. I’ll have to see.”
“Come on then I want to know everything.”
For the next half an hour Ianto told her how they’d met and that Jack had stayed at his last night. When he’d finished she went around his desk and hugged him.
“I’m so happy for you. You deserve someone to love and who loves you.”
“Thank you Tosh. I’d appreciate it if you didn’t say anything….not yet. You can tell Tommy, I know he won’t say anything.”
“Oh Ianto of course I won’t. I’ll wait until you tell me it’s ok. But yeah I will tell Tommy, thank you.”
“No, thank you. I’ve decided I’m going to tell Rhi tonight, after all I’ve got her and Mica to thank for bringing us together.”
“What do you think she’ll say?”
“I’m not sure, but if I’m honest I don’t care. I….I love him Tosh. Yeah I know I’ve only known him a few days. But it feels right and he loves me.”
“I can see how much he means to you. You don’t have to explain it to me. How are you going to tell her?”
“We’re at skating tonight, so when everyone’s gone, I’m going to show Mica how well, or not as the case may be, I can skate. Then she wants me to go back to hers for tea, but I’m going to ask Jack to come back to mine, and….well you know.”
“Look if you want any moral support you know where Tommy and I are, just text me and we’ll be there, ok?”
“Thanks Tosh, but Jack will be there to support me. You don’t mind, do you?”
“Of course not. He’s the one that’s put this smile on your face, so I know he’s going to look after you. Just don’t leave it too long before I meet him….ok?”
“No, and thanks Tosh.” He was just about to say something else about Jack when his phone rang. “Sorry Tosh, I need to get this.”
“No worries, we’ll catch up later.” She left as he answered the phone.
For the remainder of the day Ianto was alternating between ringing the venues for the Festival and in and out of meetings with Heads of Schools, putting together a timetable of events. Before he realised it was 4 o’clock and he’d promised to be at the rink at 4.30pm. He texted Jack, letting him know that he was going to be a few minutes late. Then he rang Rhi explaining he’d been caught up at work, but he’d be at the rink as soon as he’d changed.
Jack was a little disappointed that Ianto was going to be late, he’d wanted him on his own to say a proper hello to before everyone else got there. He texted him back, disappointed that I’m not going to be able to kiss you before everyone else gets here. Promise I’ll make it up to you tonight. Love you, Jxx
Ianto smiled at the text and hurried home to change. When he arrived at the rink the skaters were warming up and he spotted Jack in the centre of the rink talking to Mica. Rhi saw Ianto enter and went up to him before he’d had the chance to catch Jack’s eye.
“Ianto….finally. Mica thought you weren’t coming.”
“Hey, hang on sis, I told you I was going to be late so stop right there. I do have a life you know and I do have a job I like.”
“Yeah, yeah. Look I’m sat with Karen’s mum, come and sit with us.”
“Rhi what did I tell you, stop matchmaking. I’m perfectly capable of finding someone for myself.”
Rhi laughed “Ianto Jones, you never go out, so how are you going to meet anyone? Look just come and sit with us and watch. You never know you might like her.”
Ianto really wanted to tell Rhi what he’d been doing the previous night, but in his current mood he’d probably end up arguing with her and leaving, and that was the last thing he wanted to do. He was fed up with Rhi trying to organise his life. He’d show her, he just had to bite his tongue till the end of the session, then….then he’d be with Jack.
He made his way to the seat, Rhi deliberately making him sit next to Karen’s mam.
“June, this is Ianto, my little brother.”
Ianto held out his hand and shook June’s outstretched hand. He smiled “nice to meet you.”
“Yeah, Mica’s told me all about her Uncle Ianto. I saw you the other day talking to the Captain. Have you known him long?”
Ianto had to be careful what he said, he didn’t want to admit to anything. “Erm….no I only met him last week, you know when I picked Mica up.”
“Oh, from the way you were talking, I thought you’d known him a long time.”
“No, he was kind enough to buy me a coffee. Anyhow I’m here to watch Mica.” He knew he was being abrupt, but talking to someone his sister was trying to set him up with was the last thing he wanted. He looked across the ice to where Jack was, he smiled as he watched his lover glide effortlessly across the ice.
“Ianto, what are you smiling at?”
“Oh, erm, just watching Mica and everyone skating. Mr Harkness makes it look so easy.” He deliberately didn’t call him Jack, he wasn’t ready yet, to tell Rhi what would come at the end of the night.
As he watched he saw Jack making his way over to his side of the rink. “Mr Jones, hello, Mica’s told me all about you. What do you think of your nieces talent?”
Jack smiled causing Ianto to react. He was pleased he was sat down, but he knew Jack would have noticed. “I think she’s very clever Mr Harkness, I wish I could do something like that.”
“It’s not that difficult, maybe I could teach you?” Jack grinned again and winked. Ianto had to take another deep breath, his blood supply was definitely heading south after that.
Jack grinned as he skated off. He was all ready to jump off the ice and kiss his lover then realised he didn’t want to put the young man in an awkward situation.
Ianto watched his gorgeous lover skate away, desperate to kiss him, but not wanting to make things awkward with the rest of the parents. He watched as the skaters warmed up and then as Jack put them through their routines. Ianto was wishing the lessons would come to an end, he wanted to be with Jack.
“Ianto….hey Ianto, what is wrong with you? First you’re late turning up, now you’re ignoring both me and June.”
“What, oh sorry Rhi, I’ve got a lot on at work. We’ve got an important festival coming upl.”
“For goodness sake Ianto, is work all you can think of. I’m sick of your miserable face, not knowing how to have fun.”
“Rhiannon Davies, have you heard yourself? You think the whole world revolves around you and your family, and I don’t have a life of my own. Well let me tell you something, I’ve….” He looked across at Jack, “I’ve met someone, who’s very special to me.” He turned to June. “I’m sorry if my sister has told you otherwise.” He looked back at Rhi, “I’m old enough to know what and who I want. So Rhi would you kindly just let me get on with my own life. And….and I’m sorry if I’ve disappointed you, but to be truthful I. DON’T. CARE!”
“But….but….Ianto….why….why didn’t you tell me? Who is she? Do I know her?”
“Rhi, stop with all the questions, let’s just watch Mica and her friends skate. After all that’s what I came here for.” And to see my Captain.
“Ok, but you’re coming back to mam’s, she’s invited us all for dinner, and you can tell us all about your girlfriend then.”
“No! No Rhi, I’m busy, I’m meeting a friend and we’re going to mine for dinner.”
“Oh if it’s your girlfriend, why don’t you invite her to mam’s then we can all meet her. Yeah, that’s a great idea.”
Ianto had to leave otherwise he’d say something he would regret later. He stood up.
“Where’re you going now?”
“For a coffee, is that alright with you?”
“You don’t have to be like that, I’m just interested.”
“Give it a rest Rhi.” Ianto stood and left the rink.
Jack glanced over to Ianto, he had so wanted to kiss him earlier but didn’t want to cause any tension between him and his sister. He saw Ianto in a heated conversation with his sister. Next thing he saw was Ianto leaving. He needed to know what was going on, he didn’t want him to leave.
Ianto got outside the rink and took several deep breaths. He’d wanted to shout at Rhi that it was Jack, but he had to wait. She would find out soon enough. He took his phone from his jacket, he needed to text Jack, let him know what had happened. Before he had the chance to send the text his phone buzzed. He smiled when he saw who the text was from.
Hey, Yan, you ok? Worried about you, you’re not leaving me are you? I love you and so want to kiss you and mmmm…. I’ll show you later. Jack xx
Ianto smiled again then answered Yeah I’m ok, argued with Rhi. Want you so much and I’m going to show you very soon. Getting a coffee, back in a minute. Love you Cariad. Ianto xx He hit send, got his coffee then went back in.
He saw Jack watching as he sat down. He thought he saw Jack blow him a kiss and he smiled and nodded that he was ok. Jack smiled and went to talk to a student.
Ianto deliberately didn’t go and sit with Rhi. He knew what he had to do, and that would come soon enough at the end of the session.
“Ok kids, let’s call it a night, you’ve all worked really hard. I’ll see you on Friday. Mica, can I have a word?”
Mica skated over to Jack and Ianto saw his lover smile. He wondered what he’d said.
As everyone else skated off the rink Jack and Mica continued around, only stopping when they reached where Ianto was sitting.
“Uncle Ianto, Jack tells me you’ve got something to show me. What is it? Uncle Ianto….are you ok?”
“What?....oh hi Mica, yeah I’m fine. Hello Jack.”
“Ianto, are you ready?”
“As I’ll ever be!”
“You sure you’re ok with this?”
“Yeah Jack.” Ianto leant in and whispered “it’s about time my sister knew who I was. I love you.” He moved away and looked into Jack’s eyes.
“Ok, let’s get you some skates.” Jack got off the ice and went to the skate hire.
“Uncle Ianto, what’s going on?”
“Oh just a couple of little surprises for you and your mam. Now why don’t you go sit with her, I’ll be with you shortly.” He watched as Mica went to sit with Rhi, chatting as she sat down and pointing to him. He grinned when Jack came back with the skates.
“Are you sure you want to do this after what happened earlier?”
“Oh, now more than ever Jack, I’m going to show Rhi I can look after myself. Have I told you today Captain Harkness that I love you?”
“Mmm but you can keep on saying it. I love you too Mr Jones.” He noticed Ianto had quickly got his skates laced up. “You want a hand getting to the ice?”
“No Cariad, but will you skate around with me? I don’t want to fall, I’ll feel safer if you were there.”
“No problem. Come on then my beautiful Ianto, let’s show them what you can do.”
They both looked to where Rhi and Mica were sitting and as they moved to the ice the two girls pointed and looked surprised. Ianto remembered everything Jack had told him and found himself moving slowly around the ice. As his confidence grew he got slightly faster.
“Not too quickly sweetheart. I want your arse safe for me tonight.”
Ianto laughed “don’t worry, it’s all yours. In fact if you don’t mind there’s something else I’d like to show Rhi and Mica.”
“If it’s what I think it is, I don’t mind, but are you sure?”
“I’ve never been more sure about anything Jack, as I said earlier I’m going to shout it from the rooftops and if that means beginning with my sister then that’s what I’m going to do. Are you ready?”
“Yes my love, I’m with you and I meant what I said this morning, I’ll support you in whatever you decide.”
“Ok then, let’s go.”
They made their way over to where the girls were standing against the barrier.
“Wow Uncle Ianto, that was fantastic, but….”
“But when did you learn to skate Ianto?” Rhi asked sharply.
Jack and Ianto were still on the ice standing side by side at the barrier. Ianto carefully reached for Jack’s hand and entwined their fingers. “Since Jack here taught me earlier on in the week.”
“And may I say Mrs Davies, your brother is a very quick learner. He was a pleasure to teach.” He looked at Ianto and winked.
“Oh and Rhi, I have to thank you and Mica.”
“Oh….yeah….what for?”
“This.” He turned to face Jack, wound his arms around Jack’s waist and kissed him passionately. He heard Rhi gasp and Mica giggle. They broke apart to look at Rhi.
“You see Rhi, if I hadn’t have had to pick my gorgeous niece up from her lesson, I’d never have met the Captain here and….” He looked at Jack, “I’d never have known what it was like to truly love someone. And yeah Rhi, before you say anything, I do love him and he loves me.”
He looked from Jack to Rhi who was opening and closing her mouth, but no sound was coming out.
“For goodness sake Rhi close your mouth you look like a goldfish.” Mica and Ianto giggled.
“Uncle Ianto, Jack, I’m really happy for you. Aren’t you mam?”
“What?....oh….erm. What am I going to tell Johnny?”
“Rhi I don’t care what you tell Johnny or anyone else for that matter. We’re happy and nothing or no-one is going to change how we feel about each other.”
“Mica, come on, we’re going home. I need to talk to mam, see what she says.”
“But mam, aren’t you happy for Uncle Ianto, he’s found someone he loves. I think it’s great.” She hugged her uncle then quickly hugged Jack and left reluctantly with her mother.
“Wow Yan, that was….”
“What Jack? did I go about it in the wrong way?”
“Oh no sweetheart. You my gorgeous Ianto were brilliant. That’s why I love you. Are you going to be alright? I mean, with your sister?”
“I’m not bothered what she thinks. I love you and want to be with you, and if she can’t just see two people who are in love with each other that’s her problem. The only difference between us and her and Johnny is we’re both men, but that’s it. We are just like everyone else who’s ever fallen in love. She’s just gonna have to get over it.”
“You are gorgeous my Ianto. I really do love you more than you will ever know.”
“Then take me home Jack and show me how much you love me.”
“My pleasure.”

Ianto smiled and kissed Jack passionately, his tongue gliding over Jack’s lips asking for entry, which Jack allowed. Breaking for air Ianto looked into the blue grey depths that were his window to Jack’s heart. He smiled.
“What’s wrong Yan?”
“Oh nothing, just….” Ianto began moving down the front of Jack’s neck nipping as he went. He reached the spot where his neck met the top of his torso and began sucking harder. He nipped the skin causing a low moan to escape Jack’s mouth. Ianto reached a hand down and found Jack already hard.
“Oh, shit Yan, so good.”
Ianto stopped sucking at Jack’s neck realising he’d left a deep red bruise that would take a couple of days to disappear. He looked worried.
“What’s wrong?”
“I’ve….oh Jack, I’ve….you’ve got….”
“I don’t care. I want people to know I belong to someone. Now don’t stop what you were doing, it feels so good.”
Ianto smiled and kissed him. Remembering what Jack had done the previous night he began his journey south. All the while taking tiny nips at the older man’s flesh. He reached a nipple and nipped that between his teeth, then as Jack moaned he licked it better before sucking on it until it peaked.
“Oh God Yan, nngh….that’s….” Jack couldn’t say anything, his mind couldn’t focus on anything but what Ianto was doing with his teeth.
Ianto kissed the nipple then made his way across to the other, giving that equal attention. He still had his hand wrapped around Jack’s length and as he nipped and sucked he felt it twitch in his hand. He was remembering more of what Jack had done to him the previous night, so began kissing his way down Jack’s body.
He reached Jack’s arousal and looked up into the gorgeous eyes of his Captain. “Do you want me….”

Ianto smiled and kissed Jack’s length. Jack stroked Ianto’s hair and gasped as the young man took him into his mouth.

He released Jack and moved up to kiss him, wrapping his own hand around himself. Jack tasted himself on the young man and realised what he was doing. He then placed a hand over Ianto’s and together they brought the young man to a screaming climax.
Breathing returning to normal, sweat soaked bodies coming down from an orgasmic high, Jack was the first to speak.

“Look, let’s cross that bridge later today. We had better get cleaned up and you Mr Jones had better get to work. I’m working from home today so I don’t have anyone looking over my shoulder. But you….you have an important job to do at the Council. Come on, let’s grab a shower and get you to work.”
“Mmm….I suppose, but I want to spend the day in bed with you.” He kissed Jack quickly.
“I know, and I’d like nothing better, but you have to go in. I’ll see you soon enough at skating tonight. And remember you’re going to show Mica what you’ve learnt.”
“Duh! Do I really have to?”
“Oh yes Mr Jones, I’m not letting you get out of it that easily. Besides I’ll be there with you to catch you if you fall. I’m not going to see that cute arse of yours damaged for anything.” Jack laughed as he slapped Ianto’s arse as they made their way to the shower.
Several sensual minutes later they emerged. Jack watched as Ianto dressed in a blue pinstripe suit, burgundy shirt and dark blue tie. He had to take a deep breath as his blood supply headed south. If he hadn’t he’d never have let Ianto go to work.
Ianto glanced at the clock as he watched Jack take his coat from the back of the door, 7.30am, he had about an hour before he had to be in his office.
“Coffee?”
“Mmm yes please that would be great.”
“I could nip up the road for some croissants too if you want?”
“No, I’ll grab something when I get home, I don’t want to miss spending a minute with you. It’s going to be a long time till I see you tonight.”
“Ok, coffee it is then.”
They made their way to the kitchen, Jack not letting go of Ianto’s hand. “I meant what I said Yan, I love you and I’m not going anywhere.”
“I know Jack, I love you too. I know you’re not, not after last night, I just hope I didn’t disappoint you this morning.”
“Oh believe me Ianto, you certainly didn’t do that. Now, hadn’t you better be getting to work before you get into trouble?”
“Mmm I suppose. Do you mind if I….if I tell my friend Tosh?”
“Sweetheart, you can shout it from the rooftops for all I care. I want the world to know that I’m in love with a fantastic guy. But I know it’s difficult for you so you tell whoever and whenever you want. I’ll support you, you know that.”
“Thank you Jack. I’d love you to meet Tosh and her boyfriend Tommy.”
“And when you’re ready I will. Now Mr Jones, come on let’s get you to work.”
Jack left Ianto at his gate and walked back to the Leisure Centre to pick up his SUV. He was smiling all the way there, calculating how long he had to wait until he saw his lover again.
Ianto watched Jack in his rear view mirror as he walked off down the street. Ianto had a silly grin on his face, but he didn’t care. He was in love with a gorgeous man and he’d decided he wanted everyone to know, starting with Tosh.
He arrived at work and as he made his way to his office his phone bleeped. He remembered he’d given Jack his mobile number the previous night but didn’t think he’d hear from him this quickly.
Morning gorgeous, I’m missing you already. Can’t wait till later, I love you and want the world to know.
Ianto smiled as he read it. He texted back. Morning to you too Jack. I’ve decided to shout it from the rooftops that I’m in love with the most gorgeous man ever. Looking forward to later. Love you Cariad. He pressed send just as Tosh walked through the door.
“Morning Ianto….wow you look….”
“What Tosh….what’s wrong?”
“Oh nothing’s wrong, you look fantastic. Come on you’ve got to tell me who she is that’s putting this loved up look on your face.”
“Can you close the door please Tosh. What I’ve got to say I’d rather it not be broadcast to everyone, not just yet. They’ll find out soon enough.”
Tosh did as he asked. “Ok Mr Jones, spill the beans, who is she and when do we get to meet her?”
Ianto sat down, a worried look on his face. “Erm, that’s the thing it’s….erm….it’s, oh shit Tosh, his name is Jack Harkness.” He looked at his best friend. When he saw her smile he released his breath he was holding.
“Oh Ianto, I’m so pleased for you. He must be a wonderful man to put that look on your face.”
“You, don’t….think I’m….”
“Ianto, I’ve not seen you happier. Not even Lisa could put that kind of look on your face. When do we get to meet him?”
“Oh….erm….not sure. I’ll have to see.”
“Come on then I want to know everything.”
For the next half an hour Ianto told her how they’d met and that Jack had stayed at his last night. When he’d finished she went around his desk and hugged him.
“I’m so happy for you. You deserve someone to love and who loves you.”
“Thank you Tosh. I’d appreciate it if you didn’t say anything….not yet. You can tell Tommy, I know he won’t say anything.”
“Oh Ianto of course I won’t. I’ll wait until you tell me it’s ok. But yeah I will tell Tommy, thank you.”
“No, thank you. I’ve decided I’m going to tell Rhi tonight, after all I’ve got her and Mica to thank for bringing us together.”
“What do you think she’ll say?”
“I’m not sure, but if I’m honest I don’t care. I….I love him Tosh. Yeah I know I’ve only known him a few days. But it feels right and he loves me.”
“I can see how much he means to you. You don’t have to explain it to me. How are you going to tell her?”
“We’re at skating tonight, so when everyone’s gone, I’m going to show Mica how well, or not as the case may be, I can skate. Then she wants me to go back to hers for tea, but I’m going to ask Jack to come back to mine, and….well you know.”
“Look if you want any moral support you know where Tommy and I are, just text me and we’ll be there, ok?”
“Thanks Tosh, but Jack will be there to support me. You don’t mind, do you?”
“Of course not. He’s the one that’s put this smile on your face, so I know he’s going to look after you. Just don’t leave it too long before I meet him….ok?”
“No, and thanks Tosh.” He was just about to say something else about Jack when his phone rang. “Sorry Tosh, I need to get this.”
“No worries, we’ll catch up later.” She left as he answered the phone.
For the remainder of the day Ianto was alternating between ringing the venues for the Festival and in and out of meetings with Heads of Schools, putting together a timetable of events. Before he realised it was 4 o’clock and he’d promised to be at the rink at 4.30pm. He texted Jack, letting him know that he was going to be a few minutes late. Then he rang Rhi explaining he’d been caught up at work, but he’d be at the rink as soon as he’d changed.
Jack was a little disappointed that Ianto was going to be late, he’d wanted him on his own to say a proper hello to before everyone else got there. He texted him back, disappointed that I’m not going to be able to kiss you before everyone else gets here. Promise I’ll make it up to you tonight. Love you, Jxx
Ianto smiled at the text and hurried home to change. When he arrived at the rink the skaters were warming up and he spotted Jack in the centre of the rink talking to Mica. Rhi saw Ianto enter and went up to him before he’d had the chance to catch Jack’s eye.
“Ianto….finally. Mica thought you weren’t coming.”
“Hey, hang on sis, I told you I was going to be late so stop right there. I do have a life you know and I do have a job I like.”
“Yeah, yeah. Look I’m sat with Karen’s mum, come and sit with us.”
“Rhi what did I tell you, stop matchmaking. I’m perfectly capable of finding someone for myself.”
Rhi laughed “Ianto Jones, you never go out, so how are you going to meet anyone? Look just come and sit with us and watch. You never know you might like her.”
Ianto really wanted to tell Rhi what he’d been doing the previous night, but in his current mood he’d probably end up arguing with her and leaving, and that was the last thing he wanted to do. He was fed up with Rhi trying to organise his life. He’d show her, he just had to bite his tongue till the end of the session, then….then he’d be with Jack.
He made his way to the seat, Rhi deliberately making him sit next to Karen’s mam.
“June, this is Ianto, my little brother.”
Ianto held out his hand and shook June’s outstretched hand. He smiled “nice to meet you.”
“Yeah, Mica’s told me all about her Uncle Ianto. I saw you the other day talking to the Captain. Have you known him long?”
Ianto had to be careful what he said, he didn’t want to admit to anything. “Erm….no I only met him last week, you know when I picked Mica up.”
“Oh, from the way you were talking, I thought you’d known him a long time.”
“No, he was kind enough to buy me a coffee. Anyhow I’m here to watch Mica.” He knew he was being abrupt, but talking to someone his sister was trying to set him up with was the last thing he wanted. He looked across the ice to where Jack was, he smiled as he watched his lover glide effortlessly across the ice.
“Ianto, what are you smiling at?”
“Oh, erm, just watching Mica and everyone skating. Mr Harkness makes it look so easy.” He deliberately didn’t call him Jack, he wasn’t ready yet, to tell Rhi what would come at the end of the night.
As he watched he saw Jack making his way over to his side of the rink. “Mr Jones, hello, Mica’s told me all about you. What do you think of your nieces talent?”
Jack smiled causing Ianto to react. He was pleased he was sat down, but he knew Jack would have noticed. “I think she’s very clever Mr Harkness, I wish I could do something like that.”
“It’s not that difficult, maybe I could teach you?” Jack grinned again and winked. Ianto had to take another deep breath, his blood supply was definitely heading south after that.
Jack grinned as he skated off. He was all ready to jump off the ice and kiss his lover then realised he didn’t want to put the young man in an awkward situation.
Ianto watched his gorgeous lover skate away, desperate to kiss him, but not wanting to make things awkward with the rest of the parents. He watched as the skaters warmed up and then as Jack put them through their routines. Ianto was wishing the lessons would come to an end, he wanted to be with Jack.
“Ianto….hey Ianto, what is wrong with you? First you’re late turning up, now you’re ignoring both me and June.”
“What, oh sorry Rhi, I’ve got a lot on at work. We’ve got an important festival coming upl.”
“For goodness sake Ianto, is work all you can think of. I’m sick of your miserable face, not knowing how to have fun.”
“Rhiannon Davies, have you heard yourself? You think the whole world revolves around you and your family, and I don’t have a life of my own. Well let me tell you something, I’ve….” He looked across at Jack, “I’ve met someone, who’s very special to me.” He turned to June. “I’m sorry if my sister has told you otherwise.” He looked back at Rhi, “I’m old enough to know what and who I want. So Rhi would you kindly just let me get on with my own life. And….and I’m sorry if I’ve disappointed you, but to be truthful I. DON’T. CARE!”
“But….but….Ianto….why….why didn’t you tell me? Who is she? Do I know her?”
“Rhi, stop with all the questions, let’s just watch Mica and her friends skate. After all that’s what I came here for.” And to see my Captain.
“Ok, but you’re coming back to mam’s, she’s invited us all for dinner, and you can tell us all about your girlfriend then.”
“No! No Rhi, I’m busy, I’m meeting a friend and we’re going to mine for dinner.”
“Oh if it’s your girlfriend, why don’t you invite her to mam’s then we can all meet her. Yeah, that’s a great idea.”
Ianto had to leave otherwise he’d say something he would regret later. He stood up.
“Where’re you going now?”
“For a coffee, is that alright with you?”
“You don’t have to be like that, I’m just interested.”
“Give it a rest Rhi.” Ianto stood and left the rink.
Jack glanced over to Ianto, he had so wanted to kiss him earlier but didn’t want to cause any tension between him and his sister. He saw Ianto in a heated conversation with his sister. Next thing he saw was Ianto leaving. He needed to know what was going on, he didn’t want him to leave.
Ianto got outside the rink and took several deep breaths. He’d wanted to shout at Rhi that it was Jack, but he had to wait. She would find out soon enough. He took his phone from his jacket, he needed to text Jack, let him know what had happened. Before he had the chance to send the text his phone buzzed. He smiled when he saw who the text was from.
Hey, Yan, you ok? Worried about you, you’re not leaving me are you? I love you and so want to kiss you and mmmm…. I’ll show you later. Jack xx
Ianto smiled again then answered Yeah I’m ok, argued with Rhi. Want you so much and I’m going to show you very soon. Getting a coffee, back in a minute. Love you Cariad. Ianto xx He hit send, got his coffee then went back in.
He saw Jack watching as he sat down. He thought he saw Jack blow him a kiss and he smiled and nodded that he was ok. Jack smiled and went to talk to a student.
Ianto deliberately didn’t go and sit with Rhi. He knew what he had to do, and that would come soon enough at the end of the session.
“Ok kids, let’s call it a night, you’ve all worked really hard. I’ll see you on Friday. Mica, can I have a word?”
Mica skated over to Jack and Ianto saw his lover smile. He wondered what he’d said.
As everyone else skated off the rink Jack and Mica continued around, only stopping when they reached where Ianto was sitting.
“Uncle Ianto, Jack tells me you’ve got something to show me. What is it? Uncle Ianto….are you ok?”
“What?....oh hi Mica, yeah I’m fine. Hello Jack.”
“Ianto, are you ready?”
“As I’ll ever be!”
“You sure you’re ok with this?”
“Yeah Jack.” Ianto leant in and whispered “it’s about time my sister knew who I was. I love you.” He moved away and looked into Jack’s eyes.
“Ok, let’s get you some skates.” Jack got off the ice and went to the skate hire.
“Uncle Ianto, what’s going on?”
“Oh just a couple of little surprises for you and your mam. Now why don’t you go sit with her, I’ll be with you shortly.” He watched as Mica went to sit with Rhi, chatting as she sat down and pointing to him. He grinned when Jack came back with the skates.
“Are you sure you want to do this after what happened earlier?”
“Oh, now more than ever Jack, I’m going to show Rhi I can look after myself. Have I told you today Captain Harkness that I love you?”
“Mmm but you can keep on saying it. I love you too Mr Jones.” He noticed Ianto had quickly got his skates laced up. “You want a hand getting to the ice?”
“No Cariad, but will you skate around with me? I don’t want to fall, I’ll feel safer if you were there.”
“No problem. Come on then my beautiful Ianto, let’s show them what you can do.”
They both looked to where Rhi and Mica were sitting and as they moved to the ice the two girls pointed and looked surprised. Ianto remembered everything Jack had told him and found himself moving slowly around the ice. As his confidence grew he got slightly faster.
“Not too quickly sweetheart. I want your arse safe for me tonight.”
Ianto laughed “don’t worry, it’s all yours. In fact if you don’t mind there’s something else I’d like to show Rhi and Mica.”
“If it’s what I think it is, I don’t mind, but are you sure?”
“I’ve never been more sure about anything Jack, as I said earlier I’m going to shout it from the rooftops and if that means beginning with my sister then that’s what I’m going to do. Are you ready?”
“Yes my love, I’m with you and I meant what I said this morning, I’ll support you in whatever you decide.”
“Ok then, let’s go.”
They made their way over to where the girls were standing against the barrier.
“Wow Uncle Ianto, that was fantastic, but….”
“But when did you learn to skate Ianto?” Rhi asked sharply.
Jack and Ianto were still on the ice standing side by side at the barrier. Ianto carefully reached for Jack’s hand and entwined their fingers. “Since Jack here taught me earlier on in the week.”
“And may I say Mrs Davies, your brother is a very quick learner. He was a pleasure to teach.” He looked at Ianto and winked.
“Oh and Rhi, I have to thank you and Mica.”
“Oh….yeah….what for?”
“This.” He turned to face Jack, wound his arms around Jack’s waist and kissed him passionately. He heard Rhi gasp and Mica giggle. They broke apart to look at Rhi.
“You see Rhi, if I hadn’t have had to pick my gorgeous niece up from her lesson, I’d never have met the Captain here and….” He looked at Jack, “I’d never have known what it was like to truly love someone. And yeah Rhi, before you say anything, I do love him and he loves me.”
He looked from Jack to Rhi who was opening and closing her mouth, but no sound was coming out.
“For goodness sake Rhi close your mouth you look like a goldfish.” Mica and Ianto giggled.
“Uncle Ianto, Jack, I’m really happy for you. Aren’t you mam?”
“What?....oh….erm. What am I going to tell Johnny?”
“Rhi I don’t care what you tell Johnny or anyone else for that matter. We’re happy and nothing or no-one is going to change how we feel about each other.”
“Mica, come on, we’re going home. I need to talk to mam, see what she says.”
“But mam, aren’t you happy for Uncle Ianto, he’s found someone he loves. I think it’s great.” She hugged her uncle then quickly hugged Jack and left reluctantly with her mother.
“Wow Yan, that was….”
“What Jack? did I go about it in the wrong way?”
“Oh no sweetheart. You my gorgeous Ianto were brilliant. That’s why I love you. Are you going to be alright? I mean, with your sister?”
“I’m not bothered what she thinks. I love you and want to be with you, and if she can’t just see two people who are in love with each other that’s her problem. The only difference between us and her and Johnny is we’re both men, but that’s it. We are just like everyone else who’s ever fallen in love. She’s just gonna have to get over it.”
“You are gorgeous my Ianto. I really do love you more than you will ever know.”
“Then take me home Jack and show me how much you love me.”
“My pleasure.”
