I have always loved games - board games, card games, computer games, role-playing games, etc. I grew up with D&D and Risk, and as an adult, I have enjoyed a larger variety of games

You know what game you guys should look into? Dominion. There are several expansions as well. It's caught on like wildfire because it's a card game, and you can make every single game different! it's a lot of fun actually.
You would get along really well with my husband. I like games, but he LOVES them. We own master detective clue, that is out of print, and Nightmare, the Canadian and more fun version of Atmosfear (we have both and both are out of print now). We also have Bang and an expansion to it - that's a fun game.
I've tried other MMO's other than WoW and haven't liked them as much, but I admit I don't know what DDO is. I like being able to feel like I'm in a story without having to invest so much into it. Writing is a passion of mine though, that's for sure.
Games are fun - even when you're just playing something simple like apples to apples with the kids.
DDO = Dungeons and Dragons Online. Free to Play, *very* different feel than other MMOs. Some people hatehatehate it, some people luuuuurrrrrrve it. Combat is faster, more arcade-like, quests are designed for parties. If you play anything other than a fighter-type or a priest, better bring an NPC hireling along if you're not grouping with other PCs, else you won't survive the easiest quests.
I love Dominion! I just cannot justify the $60 (!!!) they charge for a card game. At least, I couldn't when it was $60. I just looked at Amazon and found it for $30. Is it a good 2 player game?
Hey, if he ever finds himself in San Antonio on the once-in-a-blue-moon Saturday I both have off AND and devoting to a Game Day instead of being with my family, he is invited to join us. :D
THe prices for Dominion and it's expansions are dropping and you can find good deals now. We get them for a gift here or a gift there when we can afford it, but we play it more than any other game actually, and yes it's a great two person game. The game flows quickly that way, so your wife wouldn't be so traumatized. Jake and I totally love playing it together.
Well you never know where we might end up as soon as he graduates and starts applying for jobs. It could be just about anywhere in the country (Computer Engineer). But yeah we love game days too, even if they don't always happen as often as we like either.
GIP? I feel like I should know what that is, but I'm not getting it. :)
You should do a little digging and find some shorter games to play on a 'light' weekday evening. That way you can get a bit of a fix without the huge sacrifice of time. What's more, you can do it at home and still have the family there.
It's true - we just have a dearth of good 2 player games at home, and at the end of the day, Jenny much prefers to veg in front of a show than play a game. Not that she's unwilling, but I haven't pressed it lately.
On a related note: I was just thinking - I wouldn't mind developing a super lite card game that is fast and easy and would give me an excuse to illustrate a deck of cards. Hmmm...
A good fast card game with replayability is hard to find or develop. :) You should check out No Thanks. Fits the bill nicely, though I don't know if it's a good 2 man game or not.
I know that Jackson may be a bit away from playing Starfarers, but there are plenty of options you could start him on now, and what better than
