Have you tried the Genius function on iTunes??? (On the new iTunes 8)

I am sort of disappointed. I thought they would make the selection within your own library. Is there anything I am missing there?

Do you mean the Genius playlists? Because those are made with songs from your library.

There's Genius playlists (under party shuffle under the playlist menu) and there's Genus recommendations (to the right of your music if you upload data about your music to iTunes).

Genius recommendations will get better as time goes on and more people upload data about what music they like--Apple will compare it to your library and see what they have that you have and what they have that you don't have. At least that's what I think it does...
