selfish or not i suspect what would make you work harder would prolly be the secret police officers who show up on you door step at 3 in the morning to "inspire" your productivity. but thats now who knows how a properly run communist/socialist society would actually work since thus far no one has even come close to getting it right.

...i have yet to study how the communist country's of the past have functioned in reality (Stalin and his take on communism will be coming next month), but i wouldn't be surprised if they are violent.....Marx says somewhere that violence in revolution (which is what he believed the enactment of communism by the proletariat to be) can occur, he just doesn't specify who causing it and where....very vague......possibly to cover his own ass.....

....i hope to discover what people's motivation would be in a commmunist society....though i've only read Part I....but from what i've been told, the reason that the proletariat should work hard is because, all the fruit's of your labor are yours rather then that of the property-holding upper middle class (bourgeois).....and supposedly there would be less labor to perform as each person gives their greatest effort, creating a shorter work day with much more time for pleasure.......what i find interesting is that Marx appears to be an unidealistic writer, but his theory of communism teeters on the ideal of effort and blind equality.......his theory would be wonderful if it weren't for the fact that we are all Human.....
