Well we finally got our first sides for season 3.
We found out that Supernatural would be adding new female cast members for season three the other day and today the sides came out for them. These sides are from an unknown episode for season three. They might not be for any specific episode and might just be script pieces for the actresses to read to get a feel for their characters.
Sides For Ruby
Int. Motel Room-Night
Sam sits on the bed, pensive, thoughtful. When, he suddenly hears from behind him-
Ruby: What is it with you guys and cheap motels? It’s so sleazy. (then) I kinda like it.
Ruby stands in the room. Sam reacts.
Sam: Boy. Knocking just isn’t your thing, is it?
Ruby: What can I say? I like to make an entrance.
She approaches Sam. She holds herself with a seductive confidence…an empowered sexuality. Maybe she’ll take you home…or maybe she’ll kick your ass.
Ruby: Well. Nice work, Sam. You did good today.
Sam: Good? Two people are dead.
Ruby: No. Two people were killed. And you killed them.
Sam: Shut your mouth-
Ruby: I mean, bang, right between the eyes. Don’t let that cuddly façade fool you-you’re a deadly shot.
Sam: (Growing angry) They were possessed! They were gonna kill Dean!
Ruby: Maybe you could’ve found another way. Without drilling ‘em.
Sam: There was no other way! I had no choice!
Ruby takes a beat. Breaks into a wide smile.
Ruby: Jeez. Thank you. That’s what I’ve been trying to tell you for weeks now.
Sam: (Thrown for a loop) What….?
Ruby: Of course there wasn’t a choice. Of course you did the best you could.
She sidles closer to Sam. There’s a seduction here.
Ruby: This is what happens. It’s war. People die. There’s collateral damage.
Sam: We’re supposed to save as many people as we can.
Ruby: No. We’re supposed to win. And that’s it. You can’t make an omelette without cracking a few eggs.
Sam: You think you’re funny?
Ruby: I just think I’m being honest. Sam, people are gonna die. But thousands more are gonna live. It’s not easy…but that’s brass tacks. So you can wring your hands and play your Morrissey…or you can make sure these people didn’t die for nothing.
Ruby takes another long beat. Then, with a wicked smile…
Ruby: And…you know…wartime isn’t without it’s…advantages.
Sam: What’s that mean?
Ruby: It’s kinda…well, romantic, don’t you think? Very “Casablanca.” (beats; then, leading) What do you think, Sam…we don’t know if we’ll be alive tomorrow…so what should we do tonight?
Sam: You serious?
Ruby: What are you, a candy striper? Nothing wrong with a little physical recreation. Or a lot of it, if we got the time.
Sam: I think you’re a little twisted.
Ruby: I think I’m just being honest.
Sides For Bela
Int. Bar-Night
Dean’s kind of place. Dean waits, checks his watch, downs the last of his beer.
Dean: (to himself) Hell with her.
Gets up to leave. Bela appears behind him, kisses Dean lightly on the cheek.
Bela: Am I fashionably late?
Dean: You’re way past that.
Bela: I’m sorry. It couldn’t be helped.
She sits down at the table. Dean stands looking at her. Bela takes a beat before she notices him.
Bela: If you’re waiting for more of an explanation than that, you’re in for a long wait.
Dean shakes his head and sits. A waitress comes over. Dean waves his empty beer bottle to signal another.
Bela: (to waitress) I guess a dry Chardonnay would be too much to ask for?
Waitress: (dryly) You could ask.
Bela: (gives her hard eyes) Right…okay, top shelf Vodka over lots of ice.
Waitress nods, turns to go.
Bela: Nice place. (dry as a bone, withering) The last Martini served here was an Italian, and he ordered a Bourbon.
Dean: So what do you want, Bela?
Bela: Okay. Just business, then. You’ve got the crystal skull.
Dean: Not on me.
Bela: Don’t play coy, Dean.
Dean: Why’s it so important to you?
Bela: It’s worth a lot of money if it gets in the right hands.
Dean: And it’s really dangerous if it gets in the wrong ones.
Bela: Now my problem. I’m just a facilitator.
Dean: Well, good for you. But I have a conscience.
Bela: A pretty selective one from what I understand. Look, lets cut the holier than thou crap. Name your price and give me the skull.
Dean: You think getting tough with me is your best shot here?
Bela: Honey, you don’t want to see my best shot. (beat) Look, you think I’m some heartless mercenary? Hey, I cry every time I see “It’s A Wonderful Life.” I’m just playing the game the way it’s supposed to be played. There’s no good or evil…there’s just different points of view. It’s just business. You play it right, there’s good money to be made. And if you’d wake up and smell the treasury notes, you’d see where the future lies.
Dean: I don’t see how I got much of a future, Bela.
Bela: Well, that’s up to you. But I need that skull. If you won’t sell it, there are other ways.
The waitress arrives with the drinks. Bela knocks hers back in one swift move.
Bela: (to Dean) Thanks for the drink.
She leaves.
End Of Sides
*headdesk, headdesk, headdesk*
OMG how bad can this possibly get? First we hear they might be adding two new female regulars to the show from a reliable source. I honestly wanted to believe it was a joke of some kind. I was hoping Kripke planted some kind of false info out there to detract us from what he was really planning. Then yesterday we get the descriptions for these characters and it started to become all too real. Bela was described as 20-30, beautiful and sexy, and a woman without a conscience. A mercenary in the supernatural world, she is cocky, confident, mercurial and very funny. Actress must possess physical prowess. Ruby was described as 20-late 20's, beautiful and sexy, mysterious and quiet. She's an enigmatic demon hunter. She is a most brutal, ruthless hunter. In fact she is a better hunter than Sam and Dean. Both were described as Series regulars. Now with descriptions like that, I was shocked. Honestly I thought the choice of wording was really bad. I mean Kripke has to know describing them in such a way is just going to get us mad. They sound like Sam and Dean clones with the funny one and the mysterious one crap. They are both around Sam and Dean's age and described as attractive so that just screams love interest too, whether they say it or not. Also how can they describe one of them as a better hunter than Sam and Dean? No one wants to see characters that are better at what they do than Sam and Dean. Maybe Kripke purposely described them in such a way and got the info leaked to spur us into action and let the network know this isn't what we want, since I heard this is all the network's doing.
The series regular thing bothered me the most too. I noticed with descriptions like that, that there was potential there for them to turn out to be villains. Some people were speculating that one of the girl's is Wandell's daughter and she wants revenge or the girls are demons, possessed by Meg and the Crossroads Demon. The sides seem to imply that the potential for evil is definitely there especially with Ruby. Even if they are villains though, I still don't want them appearing in every episode as regulars. I wonder how are they going to go about too if they are villains. Will the boys trust them at first, become close to them, and then be betrayed later on? This could still mean they will be in every episode. There is also still the potential there for love interest with this if the boys don't know their motives right away. Sam doesn't seem to like Ruby though at least. He thinks she is twisted. Ruby is definitely trying to seduce Sam. She sounds like a bad guy and she sounds like she really wants Sam to just disregard anyone he kills as something he had to do. She's probably trying to make him lose the part of him that makes him human. She was very demonic like trying to seduce Sam over to the side of evil. I didn't like the part where she told Sam that she has been trying to tell him that for weeks. This means that she has been hanging out with the boys for awhile. Also, how many people has Sam had to kill? :( This worries me. Sam did say he was saving Dean and at least he seems remorseful about it. However, how is Sam able to kill possessed people though anyway. Did they make new bullets for the Colt? Unless Sam just shot the people and the demons are still walking around in the dead person.
This whole thing just sucks! I'm so depressed about this. The fact that they are looking for these girls now implies they will be around right at the beginning of the season. Maybe it will start off a few weeks later with the boys being with them. Even if these sides aren't from a specific season 3 episode, they still reflect what these characters will be like. This reminds me of that April fool's joke I made up about Kripke creating a spin off with Jo and a female hunter pal, only this is even worse I think. Please pinch me and tell me I am dreaming *Sob*
