I personally love plant names - I think they can do half the work for you in establishing the setting. They're very medieval and kind of lost from modern naming conventions so they work very well in worlds that Are Not This One. Plus, they're beautiful! And not weird at all lol. People may not be named them very often, but just page through any master fantasy/scifi book and they're chillin.

I saw these books THE HUNGER GAMES for sale today in the local bookstore when I was buying some (INSANELY EXPENSIVE) class books. I..was..tempted... I know you've been writing so much great stuff about them but would you care to write one more pitch to help me decide whether to buy them? :D

Plant names definitely fit scifi. And I'm growing very fond of them. Catch me in a weak moment, and I may well name my child after a plant, haha
