I have uploaded a few pictures to my flickr account. I would have uploaded more, but I am going to an Irish pub I saw in the city center this morning, and the sheer novelty of going to an Irish pub in Bulgaria is overwhelming...in other words, I don't want to sit online all night waiting to upload photos, which is taking forever. i've had your joutnal in my friends list but only because you write about history, i think
and now you are in Bulgaria,where I live. hm, what are the chances at all? :)
are you touring the seaside or working here?

I am in Sofia partly to learn the language, and partly to just be a tourist. I won't be visiting the seaside at all, I will be spending most of my time here in Sofia and a bit in Plovdiv.

we can meet and chat in bulgarian if you like :).
tommorow I'm going to Lodki, if you had the chace go to there. if not - maybe i can meet you at 1930h at 'Orlov most'. I'll be wearing a red "liverpool" t-shirt.
and before you get too suspicious about it all - I'm just fond of meeting people from all around, plus I saw you're into eastEurope history and I'm too-studying International affairs.

Sorry, I don't know too much of Sofia...I am staying in the city center and haven't gone much beyond that...that and I usually don't get a chance to come online until 2000 hrs...I'm going to be in Sofia for a while, we can work something out.

Note: My Bulgarian isn't too great. Any conversation in Bulgarian is going to be limited lol.

Is that the pup that's kind of round the back of the city centre? I had a guinness there just for the novelty as well. I guess you can find irish pubs and chinese restaurants anywhere.

You can't forget the McDonalds Restaurants, too. He's got a picture to prove that they're EVERYWHERE!

in my home town we dont. we made a petition against them, because they wanted to cut down a few really big old trees in one of the parks. plus we have our own fastfood chain :p
that's pride worthy, ist it?

Hell no, I'm not proud of it. Granted, the chain itself offers some great benefits to anyone willing to put up with the job for an extended period of time, but I hate the smell of their food, the idea that they used genetically modified potatoes for a period of time, and the fact that they completely capitalize on the idea of American as fat-loving (or just plain gluttonous) individuals. It disgusts me.

As far as I can see the cockroaches and McDonalds of the world will still be standing after a nuclear fallout. Nothing can get rid of that crap. Have you seen the movie Super Size Me? If not, see if you can find it to watch just the special features.... Ew!
