well, i've been in one for only almost four months, so I don't know how valuable my advice is, but i would say if you really love the other person and you are willing to work for it, it's worth a try. i started my relationship knowing that i wouldn't see him all summer, and then not much at all for four, probably more years...which sounds kind of ridiculous and depressing, but we both care enough that it might just be crazy enough to work. i figure if we're still together after all that it truly shows how strong the relationship is and makes it more meaningful. i just look at the bright sides and ignore the rest. it's working so far. good luck with whatever decisions you have to make :)
