The point of this puzzling piece of public infrastructure is based on physics. By getting the cars climbing the hill to take the widest angle through tight corners, there’s less need to slow down, and therefore less of a hold-up if you’re stuck behind a truck. Video shows how terrifying the scenario could be if you’re not on your game. I guess that’s a great way to ensure drivers are concentrating on the task at hand.
