iPhone 4 Dock connector replacement

Sweet, sweet success! Completely disassembled my iPhone 4, replaced the dock connector port and reassembled it. Total cost: $8 for the part, 40 minutes of my time. As a side bonus, my iPhone 4 now works in my speaker system I picked up during Black Friday. Huzzah ( Read more... )

Yay, iFixIt! I've used their guides a few times - most recently, in replacing the keyboard of a final model PowerBook G4, which was a bit trying. =:P Not difficult as such (but lots of screws), just the separation of the trackpad and keyboard cables was tedious - both being quite fragile, of course, I had to slowly, gently run a cardboard spudger between them, to avoid ruining the trackpad cable in the process.
