So I found out late last night that a friend of mine is getting married. I would generally be genually happy for friends when they get engaged, and I am for this person as well. Don't get me wrong. I had just thought that me and this person were sort of involved. Yes, it has been near a month since we had spoken. But it seems like this engagement

Wow, an engagement that someone you were "sort of involved with" didn't mention.

Forgive me for judgment Ry, but, this person sounds like they may be lacking a little integrity. Or at least some good common sense.

Maybe this isn't the best way to be introduced to you...certainly not how I would have liked our first communication to go, but I read your post and felt like I had to reply.

I understand how you must feel. I've been in your shoes before. I can only say that what happened with your friend was not planned, nor was it intended to cause you any pain. It was something that developed quickly and unexpectedly and neither of us saw it coming.

The engagement did have some prior planning...about a week prior. We talked about wanting to get married and we thought it would be fun to do it before your friend went on a vacation cruise, which led to the expedited engagement.

I hope this won't affect your friendship with her and I hope that when/if we meet (seems likely that we will) that you won't think badly of me because of the timing of recent events.

Yes I am sure we will meet. I actually want to meet you. I'm sure I will be fine. I was just venting at the time. I will just need a five minute talk with her, and I should be okay.
