So I'm finally leaving Cherrygrove City.

[ If the camera happens to be a little jerky its because Claire's videoing and walking ]I've probably made more money than I can ever do anything with but that wasn't why I worked. It was just nice having something to do, it felt like having a purpose, even though I'm supposed to be here to train my Pokemon ( Read more... )

I've been in that cave. Bring several antidotes, and don't wander too far in. When you only have half as many antitodes as you started with, it's time to head for the exit.

What's in there?

Zubat. You can also easily find Geodude. Dunsparce are there, but unlikely to be found. Same for Teddiursa.

If you have a fire type Pokémon such as Ponyta, it will offer much better lighting than the narrow beacon of a flashlight. However, it's best to have a flashlight anyway as a back-up.

I've got a Vulpix but I've got a flashlight too.

Teddiursa, huh? [ They'd been pretty cute in their picture, and they reminded her a little of home... all of her dad's trips ] I might have to find one.

It would be best if you were prepared for a disappointment; as I said, it's very difficult to find. But its rareness would make it a rewarding discovery, wouldn't it?

It's a good job I'm not in a hurry.

I suppose that's true, so long as no one is waiting for you. There doesn't seem to be any negative consequence to taking things here slowly.

I don't even know anyone; no one from home's here. At least with slow there's still things to do if you're here for a while.

[A good four seconds pass before he answers.]

You're right. Well, with no one from your home here, it's that much more important to meet new people, right? I'm Mamoru Takatori; it's nice to meet you.

I've spoken to people on here but that's about it.

It's nice to meet you, I'm Claire.

You may find a traveling party someday. It makes the time more pleasant.

[Mostly...]

As for communicating with your Pokémon, while they aren't capable of speaking our language, they do understand it. Seeking answers in the form of questions with yes/no responses can greatly improve your ability to know what they want.

I'm just trying to get to Goldenrod so I can stay there.

I might have to try that, especially with Psyduck. He's... stubborn. [ Like his namesake ]

That seems to be a trend with Psyduck.

Is there something in particular pulling you to Goldenrod?

It's a big city and someone said it was a good place to live. I don't want to battle or travel, just stay and... I guess live.

There's nothing wrong with that. It sounds relaxing.
