The budget has failed once already... and it probably will again... because the Library over ride is gonna pass because the state gave them money but we have to match it...

Other than that... this sounds really good and all but to be honest not to sound like a pessimist... I don't think people are going to follow...

But the last override lost by a slender margin. We can change that...

Voters in the Town of Georgetown rejected two Proposition 2.5 ballot questions at a Special Town Election on June 9, 2003. Voters narrowly defeated a permanent override, which would have contributed funds to the operating budget. They also rejected a debt exclusion that would have financed constriction and repairs for the Georgetown Peabody Library. There are 4,933 registered voters in Georgetown.

Question #1:
“Shall the Town of Georgetown be allowed to assess an additional amount of $925,000.00 in real estate and personal property taxes for the purposes of funding the general operating budget for the Fiscal Year beginning July 1, 2003?”

1,114 voters approved the question; 1193 rejected it. There were 16 blanks.

It seems that anything that will cause a tax hike will cause people to reject it, even if it means helping our schools. Sadly, the first to go are the art classes, which help keep us from becoming mindless lumps of nothing. Winthrop did a walk out and got local news coverage, perhaps organizing a walk out of our own will force everyone to listen to us and perhaps give us some leeway in the local government.

By the way, who is this?
