Title: Safe With Me - 9
Author:
icarus_fly Pairing: Hikaru Yaotome X OC
Rating: PG
Summary: She runs away from the storms of what once she called home. Good girl gone bad.
Previous Chapter The guys were busy chatting about their afternoon when she stormed through their quarters not even minding those half-naked ones, who were carelessly sleeping on the lounge or those who just came out of the shower. She headed straight to his room, which she did not even know where. They need not ask what she was doing or who she was looking for because it was only Hikaru who could stand the snobbish diplomat’s daughter. They pointed to her his room.

I didn’t know how or why but I was already banging on his door like crazy. Of course, it surprised him to see me here, in the middle of the boy’s quarters. He almost dragged me out when the other guys began to tease him.
Before he could say anything, I said thank you “Thank you” and it even sounded like the most honest thing I had ever said, even to me.
His hands were on his waist and he was contemplating on saying something but I saw him take it back. Instead, he touched my forehead.
“Are you sure you’re alright now? Did you drink-“
I said I was fine and that he had nothing to worry about. I took his hand off my forehead but held unto it for a while, as a sign of gratitude…sincerity...?
No. But because it made me feel calm when I did.
We stood there for a couple more minutes, just listening to the sound of the waves that somehow spoke for us instead.

“And I almost believe that guy bought me fruits.”
She felt his grip tighten and then he let go.
“What’s up with him? Do you guys know each other?”
No. They barely knew each other. She thought she hinted a tone of jealousy over there.
“I met him at the bar the other night.”
“Bar?”
“Hey, I got lost okay” She remembered the reason why she left the bonfire. “and stumbled at his place. He was nice to give me hot choco and then brought me back to the room when I couldn’t get up. He was just trying to be nice.” Why was she even trying to explain?
She thought she heard him say “You don’t know the whole of it” but was distracted by the blow of a cool breeze.
“Yaotome, I wanna see strawberry fields.”

“I think we should not be doing this Namikawa.”
She was peeking behind some wall, waiting for their classmates to look the other way.
“Relax, we’ll be back before dinner.”
He just prayed that no one would notice them disappearing from camp. Rules said no going out of the resort without supervision. Sure they were not kids but they were on foreign land and he didn’t want her to get into any trouble. But she was consistent, and what else can he do but give in.

The countryside was indeed a nicer place. Strawberry fields looked even prettier under the setting sun. She could almost forget about the stress in the city and just unwind and live life here because the place was just perfect.
Or was it because she had him all for herself this time? No interferences.
Both would do.
He reminded her that it was already 20 minutes ‘til dinner and this actually made her pout in an instant. Why does time fly so fast when she was with him? Since when did she even notice she was counting time?
The pout on her face was still on and he understood.
He patted her head to stop her from making that face. And just then a smile escaped her lips. She likes it when he did that. He knows she likes it when he does that.

We were walking back to the resort when I kind of noticed something familiar with the cars parked just outside and my instincts were confirmed when I saw the lady talking to the receptionist.
I hated it when they follow me around like this.
I told Hikaru to meet me at the Dining Hall. I did not want him to get into these kinds of affairs and hear me talk dirty to the secretary. I had to finish some things on my own so he headed off straight to their quarters.
I was about to stomp my way to where she was standing but just then she was accompanied by the receptionist to a room down the hall. I had to sneak in to see what was going on. If there was something I was good at after all those sneaking in into Daddy’s office, eavesdropping was one.
“You perfectly know that he wouldn’t want to hear that we lost track of his daughter in this small town. What were you doing? You were paid to follow her around!”
Whoever she was talking to seemed frightened by her sharp voice because he or she did not answer.
“You need to find her now. We don’t want to see news about her walking around without body guards on foreign grounds. If someone recognizes her, it will just add to the boss’ problems!”
I had to commend Daddy’s secretary for her unwavering dedication in keeping me alive or rather making sure Daddy’s image does not get tainted because of my shortcomings. This was just one of the million reasons why I hated life.
A good, well-versed, insulting speech was already prepared on my mind and all I had to do was shower her with my painful words but just when I pushed that door open I just forgot what to say.
“Kei?”
