I didn't want to.

I want that on the record: I wasn't even curious. I tried to pass the packet of dark red powder on to Chemical, but there were cancellations and delays and bureaucracy, and eventually, I was simply running out of time and options to figure out why the streets were boiling over.

And it was harmless. That was the one thing the ( Read more... )

This reminded me so much of how I felt when reading some of Philip K. Dick's work earlier this year. Really amazing. <3

SO creative, and such an interesting abstraction of the prompt.

I interpreted the effect of Ride slightly differently, as if there were perceived lag time between actions and thoughts... which might have been much closer together than the person under the influence realized. Perhaps even the same as always, but the perception is altered.

It's an effect that I'm pretty sure I wouldn't like one bit, too!

Thank you so very much!

Yea, it's always difficult to distinguish between what's happening and your perception of what's happening, in introspective stories (or in real life :P)

But I couldn't work out a good way to get an MRI into the story :P

It shows you that you were never in control in the first place.

Dammit! Before your postscript I was about to comment that this is actually something science is beginning to theorize. I wanted to be so smart bringing that up!

I will bring up, though, that this was the theme of The Matrix Reloaded, although I'm not sure having put that much thought into that movie makes me all that smart.

Funnily enough, I've never actually seen any of the Matrix movies!

And yea, I grew up on the tradition of scifi/specfic that always points to the science it's playing with at the end of the story :P It's like a debt of gratitude, or even a "based off of the work of [this bit of reality]" :P

Wow, creepy. As always, very well-written and well-handled. Your stuff’s very unusual (I mean that in the best way).

Unusual in a good way, yesss that is what I wanted :P

In all seriousness, though, I suspect I have something of a different background to most of the folk here on Idol, or maybe even LJ. That helps! :p
