The three men sat at the table. The dark haired one had a hard stare focused on the youngest man that sat across from him, who stared back with a panicked expression. Although he tried to hide it, he couldn´t hide the fear in his eyes. The third man sat smiling, tilting the bottle of bourbon into three shot glasses on the table.

“So,” he said smirking and fidgeted with delight in his seat, “Who´s going first?” He looked between the bound men that didn´t break their gaze.

“I´ve told you the rules, now let´s play the game.” The Unsub swallowed down a shot and slammed it upside down on the tabletop with a loud smack that made the younger agent jump.

The Unsub pointed with his left at Reid, “So, you go first…. Truth or dare?” he asked. His right hand rose from his lap, bringing Hotch´s Glock 17 into sight.

Spencer swallowed as his eye fell from his boss´s and on to the gun. The profile clearly indicated a sociopathic killer with anger excitation behavior. He always kidnapped two at the time, kept them for twenty four hours, killed one and then raped the other before taking his life. They just needed to hold on long enough for the team to find them. The Unsub was smart though. He´d taken the batteries from their phones before forcing them to a new location and leaving their SUV and cell phones behind. Now they knew what the Unsub did with his victims for the twenty four hours before they died.

Spencer tried to swallow down the lump in his throat and let his tongue run over his dry lips as he watched the gun pointed at Hotch´s thigh. “Truth,” he whispered.

“Lets start with an easy one. Men or women?” the Unsub tilted his head and watched Reid with intent.

“What?” Reid said in confusion and looked in the Unsubs blue eyes.

“Do you prefer to have sex with men or women? Come on, love, it´s not that hard,” the Unsub said fiercely and pressed the gun into Hotch´s thigh. Hotch clenched his jaw but didn´t take his eyes of his young subordinate.

Reid glanced at Hotch´s face before looking at the gun, at least that explained all the gunshots wounds on the victims. “Both,” he replied, “I like both men and women… I´m what people might call bisexual.”

The Unsub stared at him for a few seconds. “That´s the truth.” He turned his eyes on Hotch. “That information surprised your boss,” he told Reid without taking his eyes off the man in question. “You´re a lucky thing,” he said as he pushed the gun into Hotch´s cheek, making Hotch turn his head a bit away from the gun.

Spencer squirmed as he watched his boss close his eyes for a second and take a deep breath through his open mouth and then look straight into Reid´s eyes.

“You´re up,” the Unsub told Hotch and pressed the gun into Reid´s shoulder. “Truth or dare,” he asked with a smile.

Silence filled the room. “Come on, I don´t want to shoot him because you´re being stubborn,” the Unsub claimed.

“Truth,” Hotch said in a strong voice his eyes never falling from Reid´s.

“Alright,” the Unsub stood up and walked the small room, “You´re used to lie, so I´m going to need a baseline to see if you´re lying or not. Did you love your wife?”

The question was such a surprise that Hotch turned his head to face the Unsub. The sick man smiled. “That got your attention, didn´t it? It´s almost gone, but you still bear a mark from your wedding ring. Yet in your wallet you carry a picture of her and you have a child too probable about five or six. You wouldn´t have kept the picture unless she was dead, and your shirt has a small fingerprint on the back of your shirt. You didn´t bother changing because you were probably running late and/or knew you could hide it with your jacket. Now answer the question. Did. You. Love. Your. Wife?”

“Yes,” Hotch answered immediately.

The Unsub looked at him for a moment and then moved to stand behind Reid, letting the gun play with the temple of the young man. Reid closed his eyes as he felt the cold metal against his head.

“Do you love him?” the Unsub asked and looked intensely at the older agent.

Reid eyes shot up with the surprise question, he looked at Hotch but Hotch was looking at the Unsub. “That´s two questions,” the young man said quickly wanting desperately to take the attention off his boss, “I thought it was my turn.”

The Unsub smirked. “Smart boy!” he said and sat down at the table turning his whole attention to Reid, dramatically putting his arm under his head as he slouched in the chair, “You don´t want to hear the answer? Is it because you love him or because you used to love him?”

“I´ll take a dare,” Reid said coldly. He waited while the Unsub ran his eyes over his face and tried not to squirm under the attention.

“You´re smart,” the Unsub said without taking his eyes off him. “How high is your IQ?”

Reid held the madman´s gaze, refusing to answer, waiting patiently for his dare, anything to stretch the time for the team to find them.

The Unsub chuckled and turned his gun toward Hotch´s torso without looking where he aimed. “Answer my question or I´ll end the game right now,” he said calmly.

Quickly gazing at his boss, Reid wet his lips again. “One hundred eighty seven.”

“That wasn´t so hard, was it?” The Unsub stood up from the chair and started fidgeting as he watched the two men, “Now, your dare. I want you to kiss him.”

“What?” Reid squealed, his voice breaking at the high pitch.

The Unsub smiled as he watched the young man with piercing eyes. “See, by your surprise I would say you´ve been pinning for him for years. Never had the chance to get your hands on him, well, now´s your chance. Your last, actually, since you´re going to be dead soon.”

Reid´s fearful eyes locked with his boss´s before slowly leaning forward until his bounds kept him from going further.

The Unsub moved behind Hotch and pushed the gun against his shoulder, “Come on, give the lad a hand.”

Hotch slowly met Reid half way, the kiss was quick, mare peeks on the lips. The Unsub moved so he could watch from the side.

“What are you? Five?” the Unsub claimed, “Do it properly. I want to see some action.” The Unsub smirked with excitement, his tongue licking impatiently at the corner of the mouth.

The younger agent waited until Hotch had given him a small nod and then leaned forward again over the table. This time their lips met in a soft kiss, it was Hotch who ran his tongue along the seam of Reid´s lips and the younger agent parted his lips and his tongue met the other with ease. Reid closed his eyes imprinting the softness of the lips and the exploring tongue into his mind, because no matter what, the Unsub was right. Hotch drew back and Reid was warped back into reality. He looked at the Unsub to see what he would do next.

“Much better,” he moved to stand to Reid´s left and crouched down, pressing gun against his groin, “bet you liked that.” He laughed at the frightened look Reid gave the gun.

“Your turn,” the Unsub claimed, never taking his eyes of the frightened victim.

“Truth,” Hotch replied in a low strained voice.

That made the Unsub turn his focus on Hotch, “Are we getting angry now? Right, on to the real questions then.” He looked from Hotch to Reid and then back again.

“How long have you wanted to fuck him?”

“I don´t,” Hotch replied quickly.

Without a warning, the Unsub stood, pointed the gun at Reid´s thigh and pulled the trigger.

Reid´s scream of pain bounced off the concrete walls.

“REID!!!” Hotch called out and pulled on his bounds to no vain.

“That was a lie,” the Unsub said when Reid´s cry turned into whimpers, “Want to try that again?” he said and pointed the gun at Reid´s other thigh.

“You son of a bitch,” Hotch growled and glared at the Unsub.

“I know, but that´s not the right answer.” The Unsub frowned and looked at Hotch with almost empathy.

“Four years,” Hotch said coldly and stared at the Unsub.

“Yeah, close enough,” he replied and crouched down next to Reid. The Unsub moved to undo Reid´s belt but the young man tried to move away. “Come on, lad, I need it so you won´t bleed out on me,” he said quietly with care in his voice.

Reid let him pull the belt from his cords and carefully the Unsub tightened it around his thigh. He whimpered as the Unsub fastened it over his wound.

“You´ll live long enough,” the Unsub said as he moved away, “but it´s your turn. Truth or dare?” The Unsub picked up a second shot glass and downed the drink, slamming the empty glass on the table.

Breathing hard, Reid tried to think but the pain in his thigh was blocking his normal thought process. “Truth,” he breathed. It would be easier to tell the truth then move at the moment.

“Alright.” The Unsub moved behind Hotch and pointed his gun against the shoulder from behind. Reid looked up, his face lined with pain and desperation.

“Did you know he wanted you?” When Reid looked at his boss before looking down instead of answering the Unsub pushed further. “Come on, it isn´t that hard of a question given your profession and IQ.”

“Yes,” Reid mumbled to the tabletop.

The Unsub quickly stepped over to Reid and forced his head up with a harsh hand under his chin. “Hey, look at me when you answer.”

“Yes,” Reid said loudly and locked his eyes with the Unsub.

Letting go of Reid´s face, the Unsub leaned on his hands looking between the two agents. “You two make quite the pair. What I don’t get is why you haven´t gotten down to business?” The Unsub walked around the small space for a few moments. When he stopped he pointed the gun at Reid´s torso. “Truth or dare?” he asked the older agent.

“Truth,” Hotch said quietly and kept his gaze firmly on Reid, who didn´t even try to keep his head up.

“Why haven´t you made your move at him?”

Hotch fumbled with the question, even if it shouldn´t have come as surprise. “There are fraternization rules, he´s my subordinate.”

The sound of the gunshot echoed through Hotch´s mind. “REID!!!!” he cried out and tried to stand up to see the young man laying on the floor after the impact.

“You lied,” the Unsub yelled at him, “the gun is pointed at his head, next shot will kill him. Now tell me the TRUTH.”

“I was scared. I didn´t want what happened to Haley to happen to him,” Hotch barked back.

Suddenly the door was kicked in. “Freeze,” Morgan shouted as Prentiss yelled; “FBI.”

The Unsub smirked and raised his hands, the gun hanging from his hand. “Took you long enough,” he gloated. Rossi and JJ came in next. Rossi hurried to Hotch´s side and pulled out a knife to cut the bounds as JJ rushed toward Reid.

“Spence?” She cried and set her hand on his stomach. “Someone call for the EMT´s,” she called over her shoulder.

Hotch rushed to the young man´s side as soon as he was free. “Reid?” he said quietly but got no reply. He felt for a pulse and breathed out a breathe of relief as he felt the small thump under his fingers.

The EMT´s came rushing in and pushed all of them aside, they stood in a semi circle and watched them work on their genius.

Hotch followed the gurney outside and made an attempt to get in to the ambulance but was stopped. “We need the space to work on him,” the EMT said and pushed Hotch aside to close the door before the car drove off.

“Come on,” Rossi said and pulled his arm, “We need to get you looked at.”

“I´m fine, just follow the ambulance,” Hotch said angrily and got into the passenger seat of the nearest SUV.

Three days later, the group stood around the hospital bed that held one agent Reid.

“Oww,” Reid claimed, “will you stop making me laugh, it hurts.” His hand going protectively over his stomach were one of his latest scars would be.

“That´s enough,” Hotch said with an authoritative tone and the whole group fell silent. “You can torment him all you want when he gets back now give him a break.”

Morgan smiled and patted the patient shoulder. “You take care, kid. I´ll see you tomorrow.”

Reid nodded and one by one they said their goodbyes, JJ giving him a kiss on the cheek and Garcia one on his forehead. The Unit Chief returned Rossi´s nod as the oldest profiler left the room, leaving the boss behind.

Hotch opened his briefcase and handed folded pages over to Reid. Raising his eyebrow in surprise the young agent looked at his boss with a silent question.

“A copy of my statement. I expect yours will be similar,” Hotch told him softly.

Reid unfolded the pages and quickly read them. The incident had been logged to the tee except the questions had been changed and there was no mention of the kiss. Looking at the man he´d loved and admired for years, Reid nodded his understanding and handed the papers back to his boss.

Silence filled the room and Reid starred up at the ceiling. “What happens now?” he asked without looking at the other man.

“Nothing,” Hotch said, his gaze fixed on the floor.

Again Reid nodded, unsure if he could do that since everything had been revealed.
