Got a new bike a few weeks ago. She's a beautiful yellow 2001 Ducati 748 (pic after the cut). I've wanted a 916-based bike since I first laid eyes on one, and now I have one. And those of you who know what happened to my first Ducati will be happy to know that I picked up a pair of leather Alpinestars pants and some Icon kevlar-lined jeans so I ( Read more... )

I was tempted to use that line in the post, but figured you'd rather provide it.

and pants! you see, leather pants? no more giving me shit about riding in jeans.

the leathers are damned uncomfortable at the moment, though.

yep, got those too. superduty's for riding in town, Alpinestars Bat's for canyon carving or highway.

sweet! first mod, relocation of rear turn signals to behind grates in rear fairing and creation of license plate mount up forward between pipes with use of 2 small l-brackets!

and what kind of exhaust is that?

i'm with ya on the license plate mount, but i haven't decided about the turn signals yet. i've got both mono and biposto tail sections for it, so it'd be nice to leave it quick-change.

believe it or not, that's the stock exhaust. seems it showed up at the dealer painted black and sounding pretty good, so i'm leaving it alone for the moment.

Hmm I seem to remember that they're the same piece- so I don't think it's an option. I just wanted to get rid of the "big ugly black thing" back there-

Keep in mind the 748 wears the rockers more quickly due to the higher RPM. It takes from clod start over 3 minutes for the oil to reach the top end so a long warm up will increase rocker life. Also use the clear LED tail light with integrated blinkers. (Approx. $110 online) Then you can swap the mono to bi-postal more quickly. The license bracket can be easily fabricated and mounted to the existing holes. Good luck. Cheers -B-

Cold start, I mean. Sloppy speller, I am. A benifit to using the LEDs is they don't burn out as easily, if ever. No bulb replacement. They are also a bit brighter. Safe riding. -B-
