I buried my cat, Callee today. She's older than I am, or, was I should say. 19 years old. That's... amazingly old for a cat, and she lived a long and happy life with us, so there's that ( Read more... )

I understand how you feel, as our dog died when I was 14 (and he was older than me at the time). It's a heavy blow, but thankfully you're old enough to get through it... I was gonna say "easily" but that's not it. Less hard? With grace? I don't know. But you will, as I did. And you'll have 19 years of memories.

Isn't it strange how it's always the childhood pets that live the longest?

Our pets steal more than things from our plate when we aren't looking. They take a tiny bit of our souls as well. For a cat to reach 19 is amazing. To reach 19 and still look good is phenominal.

To be there when they die is heartbreaking.
